Those dreams were all gone, the sweet long white dress with scented flowers of nature was tangled with the new fate parted for me. The beats of drums and dance of beads on the ankles weren't experience, the screams of elders and jam of staffs weren't watched in display. That one dream of serving wine to my future husband was snatched, I was not opportune to dance in the red traditional attire nor was I given away by either of my parents.
The aisle was lonely and cold, the faded veil gave glimpse to the empty seats and the cold face that stood on the altar, with tight grasp of his fingers on the coat. His neck let loose in the shirt that sent view to his chest, down to his thighs that grabbed the blue-black pants that companied with it coat, beneath was the lonely plain shirt.
Within the slim pale grey dress, that clutched my stomach of space I walked to his wait. On several occasions it played in the mind to run ,leave everything behind and free my soul. Served myself the justice I deserved of having a proper wedding, one that was accepted by my parents and welcome to my friends, which I had not of. But yet I craved the joy of every wedding experience, after all it was my first time in gown. I wanted my father's hand guiding me to the altar, his hand to lay mine in my husband's hand. I wanted to see my sisters pulled my ears and bugged my husband to his max, I desired to throw the bouquet and have it catch my the next bride to be.
"Today we gather here to witness the holy matrimony of Mr. Dave Stone and Miss June Black" the priest words crooked in smile to the tight lips, it was ironic cause there wasn't nothing joyful about the union.
It was a plain deal.
My mother protested voice against the wedding was ignored, her eyes pleading out to refuse was dejected.
"Mr. Dave Stone ,do you take miss Alice Black as your lovely wedded wife, fir sickness and in health, richer and poor till death do you aparts?" I watched his lips concealed to the oaths "I do".
Violet had laughed on hearing of my wedding, unlike the others she wouldn't take my nonsense excuse of finding love, the second I slit my lips open she popped out for it to be an arranged marriage. She had informs of him and how heavy his account was, she plotted out how common it was for rich men to have arranged weddings. And looking at my situation I was a fit for his deal, I needed money so I went in the cage she had detailed, getting a pat from her on my shoulders.
"Mis Alice?" Dave's eyes met mine, catching a weird look from the priest that had been repeating the oaths to me, but was too busy in my own world. Was I ready?, I should runaway but I couldn't be so selfish, it wasn't just about me but my family as in whole.
"I do" the words reluctantly came out, catching a relief on his face.
"With this, I now pronounce you husband and wife"
You may kiss the bride was for couples in love not us, a kiss was off limits in our contract, a touch of most should be with consent of both parties.
His cars were lined at the front gate of the church, with grace I snatched the veil off my face, rendering it sweet air of the car.
"Next, the court" his voiced poured out dryly. He was dead serious, not only vows he wanted it legal so no one would question our marriage. He sounded cocky and sick and if am being honest I was getting a little sick in the stomach.
The whole process seemed rushed.
“Miss Alice please sign here” the man requested whom apparently was his lawyer. Dressed in formal wear I watched my fingers jittery on the pen, scanning for a second thought over my Decision. His eyes met mine in question ,my head nodded nothing and stroke the ink in interpretation of my consent and legal bound to him. That little signature that could get me hold bind if ever I go against our deal.
Whether it was to my comfort or not, he was my husband both blessed in church and declared in court.
His signatures took little seconds to fill the blanks, with that his lawyer clapped the papers and headed out with done deal smile. The thoughts of reading the papers only crossed in after the signatures were inked on every required space, but a cool heart kept in as I had skimmed through the pages.
"What ever you need or need to know May will guide you through" he said switching the coat for an easy smooth one and sprint his legs for the doors with his driver Bullet behind him.
I turned to look at the slim lady with cute eyes that were fenced behind the transparent lens.
"Hi , am May Mr. Stone's assistant" her tone came in firm and smooth at the same time, checking in on her formal wear, I skipped a thought of how gorgeous she would look in clothes that weren't do formal or the lens out to showcase her beautiful garden eyes. Not like she wasn't beautiful as she was, she was perfect in her own skin and I admired her will to do as she pleased.
"What can I help you with?" her words came in like a robot, stole of smile or glitch of body.
"Can I see my room, I would love to get out of this" I said gesturing to the dress that was eating me up and the heels were killer to the toes. That damn crazy stylist wouldn't take no on his choices, his hand went greasing his front edges on every words said, waving his hips to a different motion. His legs smooth its way down in the short tight pants and half trap top, those legsof his could rock heels more than mine could, honestly I was in admiration how he handle it, an hour was best of my limits. But his went pacing the rooms, calling and screaming for things he needed.
With two hours or more, my body was pleased to be redeemed from his clutches.
"This way ma. This is your room, Mr. Stone ordered you settled in and if it not of your likes then you can have it changed"
Change what, it was a breath stole eye sight. Throwing the heels for an unknown location, I scanned my eyes on the wild walls that was printed with summer curtains that went gathering in May's fingers, I watched her pressed a button on the small remote in her hand. Next were the sofas that designed its way to a love, with circle glass table that rolled in seconds.
"Your bed room is this way" she led her way to the second door that gave way for the heavy twice size bed and cuddling teddies that lined on the bed. The color was girly and home, it scented the aroma of lily and rose just my favorite.
"Don't you like it?" She asked on my pouted lips of admiration "like?, I love it. It so beautiful and we'll decorated, the teddies" I said running my hands on the smooth bed and friendly teddies, feeling it soft texture and fluffy puffs. "The fragrance" my breathe sucked in, grasping seconds of the sweet leaked fragrance "it just what I like, it my favorite perfume, everything is to my liking. How did hell did the person got to know about me?" I asked , it couldn't had been him, according to his personality he wouldn't spend his time thinking of what I loved or had come up with such creative designs. Most his life must be fill with colourless activities.
"I did, Mr. Stone assigned me with the task do I did my research on you and set things to your preference." I knew someone else was the brain behind such good acts.
"Wow May, it beautiful I love it. Thank you for putting efforts and setting this gorgeous living space for me" I was pleased with her work and honestly she was a gem to be unveil.
For a second I saw her lips spread aparts on my complements, a second wasn't even needed to tell how beautiful she looked yet if I may, she looked naturally beautiful with a smile on.
"Don't you have to change?, Your closet is this way".
My mouth left it position for another, the long walk of stands attracted in colours of high fashion designs, my lips gasped to the shimmering glows of the shoe collections that found rest on the bottom rags. " Wow May, you're a designer" I chuckled with a step inside ,my fingers were tired of counting the shoes or the dresses. "Mr. stone ordered in the collections specially for you" I wasn't surprised he was a big egoist man, he wouldn't let pass of an opportunity to show off his wealth and power.
"You should take a rest, Mr. Stone is hosting a party in your name" my brows cocked, stabbing my hands to my chest "what?" He didn't make measure of such activity.
"You aren't aware" she cuts in grabbing a look of my face, she straighten the stem of her lens and smiled it off. "You don't have to worry it just a little gathering of investors, business partners and high social personnel. He wants to introduce his wife to them, you just have to be president the rest you leave to him" she sooth in with an exit for the doors.
'How the hell was I to attend a party in two hours when my legs were killing me, and my eyes were dying out?'
