A few weeks have past, I went back to Texas and left Lily behind to stay protected, I visited my dad, Devon and Connor's graves. I kneeled by my dad's grave
"Dad I miss you so much, you would still be here if I never ran away and listened to you."
I stared at the engraving of the tombstone when I heard my name
"Kayla? Is that you?"
I stood up and turned around
"Am I supposed to know you?"
He gave me a smile
"It's me, Zack? Devon's friend."
I nodded my head
"Right? How are you?"
He walked up
"Tragic how he died huh? I'm sorry for that."
I looked up from the ground
"It's been a few years but yes."
He crossed his arms
"Weren't you pregnant? Where's the baby?"
I bit my lip nervously
"She's home, I don't really remember you."
He chuckled
"No one does, I was different in high school, tragic how Devon was next but he was a fool for who he hung out with."
I didn't say anything; I didn't care to talk about Devon much. He changed the subject
"Are you having a boy or girl?"
I closed my jacket over my giant stomach
"Twin girls."
He looked at me
"You're married."
I pulled my hand up and looked at it
"I was... he was killed a few months ago."
He smirked
"Do you and Connor still talk, I mean you guys have a daughter together right?"
My heart shattered hearing his name
"Connor was my husband... and yes we'll have three soon."
He covered his mouth
"I am sorry, I had no idea, I'm sorry for your loss."
I faked a smile
"He's everywhere I look but I thought coming back would help forget but nope brings back more memories and moments with him."
He kicked at the patches of dirt that were at one time the grass
"So heard you and Devon weren't on very good terms when he died?"
I brushed my hair back
"No I lost a lot of respect for him when I found out he was trying to marry me to get money from another gang rival who are now after me."
He didn't look surprised
"Devon was an idiot at times."
I smirked and shrugged
"Not going to say anything about him but yes he was."
I began walking to Connor's grave
"I'll see you around I guess."
He cleared his throat
"Wait..."
I turned around
"Yes?"
He licked his bottom lip
"How long are you in town?"
I shrugged
"Till tomorrow, why?"
Derek and Joey came up; Derek gave him a nasty attitude
"Is he bothering you Kayla?"
Zack snapped
"Who are you, her bodyguard?"
Joey crossed his arms
"Duh idiot, he's also her brother in law."
Zack cleared his throat
"Connor's?"
I yelled
"Can you guys stop bringing up his name!?"
Derek exhaled
"Did you see him?"
I frowned and looked down
"No... I don't know if I can yet."
Joey snapped at Zack
"Beat it would ya Zacky?"
Derek threw him a dirty look but didn't say anything, Zack began walking away
"Bye Kayla, see you around."
I gave him a quick smile and looked down, Derek pointed at a tombstone
"He's right over there, you'll feel better."
I sighed
"It's a lot harder than it seems you guys, I couldn't keep it together at the funeral, let alone see his name on a tombstone."
Joey gave me a sweet smile
"Kayla it's hard for all of us, just go talk to him. It will help make it easier."
I exhaled
"Okay."
I walked and kneeled by the tombstone, I traced his name with my finger as my eyes filled with tears
"I miss you... you were the one who kept my head up now you're gone too... and I don't even know my reason why I'm still trying to stay strong. Lily doesn't even know you're gone just that you left for a little bit."
A tear fell from my cheek
"I'd give everything to see you again, I miss you like crazy Connor."
The wind picked up and blew through my hair causing it to stick to the tears on my cheeks. As I sat there talking to him, my stomach began to feel heavy and it began hurting horribly; Derek and Joey rushed over to help me, the pain sharpened and I began crying in pain. Joey looked at Derek
"What do we do?"
I squeezed my eyes shut to handle the pain; they finally stopped long enough to say
"I need to get a hospital."
They helped me up and rushed me to the hospital; by the time we reached the hospital my contractions had gotten worse and I felt as if I was going to pass out. They rushed me into a room, as they were checking everything one of the nurse yelled
"We have no heartbeat, get her into surgery immediately; move it! We aren't going to lose this baby!"
I began coming in and out of consciousness, I saw a bright light then darkness; everything went black and I could hear a faint
"We're losing her!"
They pulled my first daughter, Arabella out and wrapped her up; next they quickly pulled out my other daughter, Ana; she was being choked by the cord, they began trying to revive her. Her little face was purple from the lack of air she was getting. As I laid there in the dark, I saw a light coming to me; then I saw the face I missed the most, Connor's. It wasn't real or so I thought; he just stood there, smiling. I was angry but hurt all at once until he disappeared and everything was black again. I heard faint voices talking but weren't clear.
A few hours have passed until I could wake up and escape the darkest I just stood in. I sat up in bed as the nurse handed me my daughters, Arabella and Ana. Once I saw their faces, my heart broke. They resembled the one person I loved, Connor. I don't know how or when I'll be able to let go and move on but I'm sure one day I'll be able to with him still in my heart. As soon as I was released from the hospital, I went straight home; I couldn't be in that town anymore. As soon as I walked in the door with the twins, Tyler ran down the stairs
"Oh my god! Are you okay?"
I smiled and hugged him still in pain from the c section. I looked around for Lily
"Where's Lily?"
He scratched the back of his head and bit his lip
"About that..."
My blood began to boil
"Where is my DAUGHTER Tyler!"
He looked at me with fear in his eyes
"I woke up and she was gone."
I pushed him out of the way and ran up the stairs, Derek shook his head
"Were you not in her room?"
Tyler exhaled
"I couldn't do anything Derek; he took her."
I ran to the top of the stairs and yelled
"What are you guys doing standing around?!"
Derek hand the car seats to Lonnie
"Watch them like they are your children and watch Kayla. I got an idea of who's behind this."
I ran down the stairs
"Great lead the way."
Derek licked his lip as he ran his fingers through his jet black hair
"It's dangerous Kayla, we will bring her back in one piece."
I crossed my arms
"You better Derek or else you'll be next and I won't be nice about it."
Lonnie laughed
"She doesn't know."
I looked at him with a dirty mad dog face
"Know what? Hm. Mind telling me?"
Derek snapped
"Shut up Lonnie or this whole plan will be dead."
I looked at Derek
"Let me in on it now! Why am I even the outcast here?"
Joey walked in, eating pizza
"Oh hey Kayla!"
I quickly glanced at him and back at Derek
"Spit it out now or blood will be spitting out of your throat in the next two seconds."
Joey took a bite
"Is this about Connor?"
I got angry
"What about him?"
Derek rubbed his forehead
"Connor told us to put you in police protection if things got worse, you went into labor and we weren't able to put her without you present."
I thought about it
"That doesn't sound right, why would Connor, an upcoming gang leader want the police involved?"
A guy's voice stood behind me talking
"Because he never wanted that."
I turned around
"Who are you?"
He smiled
"I'm Devon's cousin, Nathan."
I scoffed
"Do I have to meet any more of that traitor's friends, or family?"
He laughed
"As far as I know no."
Derek got defensive
"What are you doing here?"
Nathan kneeled near Arabella and rubbed her cheek with his finger
"Connor's actual plan was for me and Zack to take care and protect his family if something happened."
He stood up
"You met Zack right Kayla?"
Derek got angry
"The hell you'll take care of them!"
He went to attack Nathan when we heard a man yell
"Derek! He's right."
I looked where the voice came from, it was Connor's dad; I hadn't seen him since the funeral; he aged and it had taken its toll on him. He walked up to us
"Derek, step back."
He pulled out a gun and started waving it
"So where's my granddaughter?"
He pointed the gun dead center in Nathan's chest with an evil smirk
"Tell me she's safe and you live, if not I won't hesitate pulling the trigger."
I whispered to Lonnie to take the girls upstairs; I stepped in front of Nathan
"Don't do this now, I don't know what the deal is but I can handle myself."
Connor's dad put the gun down and back in the front of his pants; Nathan started acting nervous
"I have the proof you need that Lilianna is safe and the agreement Connor made with us."
He pulled out a folded piece of paper from his plain black t shirt pocket and handed it to me, I opened it and looked it over. I looked up from the paper
"This is a legit agreement, this is Connor's signature."
Nathan nodded
"Yes, we can go whenever you feel like ma'am."
I snapped
"Do I look 50 to you? Just call me Kayla."
He bowed his head
"I apologize."
I looked at Connor's dad and Derek
"I'm going with him."
A few other members had come in
"Boss? We have run into a problem."
Connor's dad got angry
"What kind of problem?"
Nathan cleared his throat
"We need to get you out of here soon Kayla."
I looked at him confused until I heard gunshots outside, I ran upstairs with Nathan following I grabbed Arabella and Nathan grabbed Ana. We ran out the back and jumped in the back of a black suv. Zack was driving
"Hey Kayla."
Nathan yelled
"Get us out of here idiot! They have attacked."
I looked at Nathan
"Who did?"
He gave me a quick glance as he dialed a number on his phone
"Boss we have them, they are safe with us and we are on our way back to the house."
I grabbed the phone
"What the hell is going on?"
The phone hung up; I got angry and yelled
"Will someone explain why my house was attacked!"
Nathan looked back
"That is classified; you are safe that is our main concern."
