The landing post was located on the rooftop of a tall and large building.
As planned, when Merchant Bernard and co came down off their airship, they were greeted by Secretary Cecil, who was patiently waiting below along with two other personnel.
"Mister Bernard, and gentlemen, welcome to the First District Academy. My name is Secretary Cecil," Cecil politely greeted the merchant and his company.
Seeing the secretary with brunette hair but not the usual sexy with good assets, the beard of Merchant Bernard curled down alongside his saddened mouth. He was secretly disappointed. It was as if they weren't treating him as a VIP at all. He was a merchant from an advanced country. A noble at such.
Yet, he was just greeted by an old hag? This is so infuriating! This academy lacks proper presentation on how to approach their important visitor!
"Are you the one who will guide us?" He still managed to fish out a normal question, thanks to his business-minded personality.
On the other hand, in terms of business standards, this academy already failed in that aspect. Merchant Bernard could only shake his head in secret.
"Yes, Mister Bernard." Miss Cecil remained steady and polite. "And these two gentlemen with me will guide your cargo to the heavy-duty elevator. Please, follow me, we'll go this way."
"Alright."
As they were inside the elevator, Merchant Bernard could not help but ask.
"Why the headmaster did not come to greet me instead?" He was not even hiding his displeasure when he asked that.
It would have been much better if the one who was greeting him was a sexy brunette with good assets. Unfortunately, it was a wrinkled hag. Secretary Cecil was clearly around 50-60 of age just looking at her appearance. She should have retired already and enjoyed her pension.
Anyway, this kind of approach showed a lack of ethics towards a noble from a foreign country. Even in the empire, his presence was equivalent to those in the palace.
Noticing his displeasure, Assistant Kuryue smiled impishly, then whispered into the merchant's ear.
"As I told you, Mister Bernard, they are ungrateful people with no honor. Let's show them what our empire is capable of." Kuryue made sure that his voice was low enough to not be heard by the secretary.
Understanding what Kuryue meant to say, Merchant Bernard's face contorted to a bitter expression. Right, he needed to teach them how to treat an empire's noble.
To Merchant Bernard's question, Secretary Cecil replied saying, "Sorry, Mister Bernard, the headmaster had some important things she needed to finish before the deadline."
For Merchant Bernard, Secretary Cecil's reply was very casual and predictable.
Tsk.
The noble merchant made a slight clicking sound. Secretary Cecil just disregarded it and acted as if she didn't hear it.
She continued saying, "But the headmaster will join you on the VIP stage once the mock battle starts," she added
"I see."
He secretly felt fine about it. At least there was a chance to flaunt his company's latest product to the headmaster. He wondered what kind of face the headmaster of this academy would be expressing once his fighters trashed their fighters.
Kukuku.
He could not help but be excited at the expression on the headmaster's face later on. He heard that the First District Academy had been in a stalemate in their mech production. They could not produce better variants in their own model.
Although they have Advanced Warrior Mechs, those mechs' main purpose was for defending the city from the sudden attack of Zergs.
Advanced Warrior Mechs are very expensive. They could not afford to buy more of it. So, to this day, they only have three of those types of mechs in their possession and only the best of the best members of Elite Mech Pilot were allowed to pilot them.
Back to where Cross was, after asking some students who he met on his way, Cross finally arrived at the Headquarters of the Mech Engineering Department.
The headquarters of the Mech Engineering Department was bigger than the headquarters of the Support Department. It was the size of a standard factory.
When Cross peeked inside, he saw a few people inside. Suddenly, he heard clapping sounds.
Clap! Clap!
Then, he heard someone say, "Let's fix it right away! The merchant from the empire has already arrived. We need to redesign it as Commander Guren of the Mech Soldier Department had requested."
"But Commander Beth, the item we have requested have yet to arrive," said one of the members.
"Really? Did the Support Department not deliver it yet?"
"I guess so…"
"….."
"Wait let me call them—" from her pocket, she was about to withdraw her Mobile Terminal, a mobile device used for communication. But before she could do that she was interrupted by a sudden call.
"Uhm, Commander Beth, a person is here! He said he is from the Support Department!"
Immediately, everyone looked at the entrance. They saw a young man standing with a box in his arms.
Commander Beth slightly narrowed her eyes. She knew the faces of all the members of the Support Department, but she could not recognize him.
However, since he was wearing a student uniform of the academy, he was no doubt a student of the academy.
"Alright, let him in!"
"You heard the commander. Please, come in…" the person gestured his head to beckon Cross to come inside.
"Are you really from the Support Department?" A brunette-haired woman around 20 of age asked Cross right after he arrived in front of them.
"Yes, I am a new member," Cross replied casually.
"Ah, I see. No wonder I didn't recognize you. Anyway, I assume that is the item we asked for?"
"Probably. Uhm, here."
One of the crew took it from Cross. Then, they immediately checked the contents.
"Commander Beth. These are indeed the items."
"Okay, everyone, let's work on it immediately." She clapped her hands to urge them to work.
Clap! Clap!
"Alright! Right away!"
Everyone's attention then turned away from Cross. He was left standing there. He wanted to ask if he was now fine to leave. But, seeing how focused everyone was on their work, he could not bring himself to disturb them.
To his surprise, the contents of the box was a rectangular plate. It was a luminous object with a dark outer shell and some bright patterns.
It was well packed inside the box, to avoid it from clattering inside.
If he wasn't wrong, this item was the Mainframe of Mech. It contains all the data and commands necessary for the mech's movements and other functions.
Looking at them, it looks like they were going to adjust something in it.
Using cords, a member of the Mech Engineering Department connected the mainframe to a device. Then, a holographic screen booted up in front of that person.
The holographic screen appeared on top of a flat surface, which he used as digital keyboard.
Looking at the digital blueprint on the holographic screen, it looks like they had already planned beforehand what adjustments they needed to adjust.
But Cross noticed something in its data. His eyes slightly narrowed.
Cross nodded silently at Adam's whisper.
But the problem was… those stunts were very hard to execute. They need a skilled pilot to execute them properly. Also, the burden they may cause to the pilots was so great.
