Shutting everyone down

Adam whispered.

Even Rebecca and Naomi ditched him. Cross smiled wryly.

"It can't be helped…" he whispered.

Tick-tock! Tick-tock!

HI Goji's shoes produced 'tick-tock' noises as he walked unhurriedly toward the young man in question. He stopped in front of the bewildered Cross.

"Are you the freak they are talking about?" HI Goji asked in a serious tone.

"….."

Everyone fell silent as they waited patiently for the moment the HI would drag away the freak out of this academy.

Cross didn't reply right away. William snorted at Cross. That's what you get for being an ignorant fool, William thought.

Then Cross opened his mouth and asked casually, "Are you mocking my fashion, Oldman?" Cross replied indifferently. But wait… there's something in the way he spoke.

"W-What? Did I hear it correctly?" A bewildered student asked.

"Did that freak just provoke the untouchable head instructor?"

They noticed a change in HI Goji's expression.

"I never thought his idiocy was to this degree!" Rebecca muttered while shaking her head in dismay.

"Why did he say that?" Naomi asked while frowning.

"This fool! He's digging his own grave," said one of William's friends. And the other one also said, "This freak was truly ignorant."

William sneered at Cross. He had no idea he was a real psycho. Cai let out a sigh, and Noir didn't know what to feel about it. Such disrespect towards the HI deserves a high level of punishment. She sighed as well.

Goji opened his mouth and said, "Silly kid, I told you to not call me that inside the academy."

"Well. I can't do anything about it. I'm so used to calling you that. It's hard for me to change my routine right away, you know."

"Please kid, just this one. Or else my reputable name in this academy will be sullied."

Everyone looked dumbfounded at their exchange.

What? What? What? The Untouchable Goji Schmid wasn't angry?!

Is this a dream?!!

What the h*ll, am I in heaven right now?!

Wait, it even looked like they knew each other very well!!!

At this moment, William, his two friends, Rebecca, Naomi, and even Cai and Noir had their mouths wide open. Their jaws might touch the floor anytime.

All of them could not believe what their eyes were seeing and their ears were hearing at this moment. The Untouchable HI Goji Schmid looked so friendly like a puppy in front of the transferee freak who not only has low academic scores but also a manaless person!

IMPOSSIBLE!!!

Even the two instructors with Goji looked shocked as well.

Giving in to the HI's incessant insistence, Cross let out a sigh. "Hah~ Okay. Just this one, Head Instructor Goji Schmid." Cross said while dropping his shoulders.

"Hehe. Thank you much young man!"

"By the way, are you here to kick me out of the academy?" Cross suddenly asked.

"There's no way that would happen! I am here to pick you up. The Headmaster wanted to meet you."

"I see. Let's go then. I don't like what's going on in this place."

"Okay, here, here…" Goji led Cross towards the entrance.

Passing on William, Cross just remained nonchalant. He didn't even spare a glance at him.

"….."

The two then casually left the cafeteria, leaving behind the seemingly statued students in dumbfounded faces.

WHO THE HELL IS HE?!!!

William was too shocked to react. He could not do anything but scream internally.

After Cross and Goji left, "Let's go!" Noir said to her group of friends. "What about the duel?" Asked one of her friends.

"I'll do that another time." She was more interested to know the identity of that transferee. She wanted to know about him right away.

Cai narrowed her eyes. "Who exactly is he? Why did the HI act like that in front of him?" It was the first time she felt interested in someone.

"R-Rebecca, d-did you see that? Am I dreaming?" Naomi asked in disbelief.

"I saw it and I can't believe it. Just who exactly is Cross?"

Cross Milliams… just who exactly is he?

Everyone was wondering about his identity because of that one moment.

With heavy feelings, William and his friends also decided to leave the cafeteria. When they turned around, Cai and Noir were no longer there.

The fatty was left standing on his feet with his face gushing in a cold sweat. Someone who could talk and act like that in front of the Untouchable HI was obviously not a normal person!!!

Surrounded by mountains, seas, rivers, lakes, and hills were hundreds of large cities and thousands of towns and villages of one of the largest Federations of the Eastern Continent, the Solace Federation.

It was the start of autumn, the first month of the school year. Unlike the students in ordinary high schools, who were more concerned about their academic scores, in the First District Academy of Mech, everyone was more concerned about their mana scores.

In the evaluation exam, more emphasis was given to mana scores.

Those with higher mana scores would be appointed to the Mech Soldier Department, Mech Theory Department, and Mech Engineering.

Whereas, those with lower mana scores would be appointed in the other departments, like the Support Department and other random departments.

[The next day]

There was proliferating news about a manaless freak transfer student with incredibly low scores on the academic test. The news reached the ears of many students. Everyone was talking about it. A transfer student was a rare occurrence in the academy, so it was natural that it would pique everyone's interest. And to think that he was able to admit in this academy even though he was a manaless, that was even more surprising than anything else. His presence was nothing but an embarrassment to the academy. That was what everyone worried about.

Even if many had low results in their test, the title 'the lowest' would definitely garner more attention from the masses.

Since Cross's academic score was low, he was appointed to D-Class along with other students with low academic scores. D-Class is the lowest class among all the freshmen classes.

There are four classes in the freshmen class. And the ascending order was D, C, B, and A. Whereas A is the highest class.

Around this time of the year, many young talents from famous clans were showing off their skills in their department.

Cross along with Adam was walking in the hallway towards the southern area. As he was walking in the hallway, many eyes were directed at him. He also heard many whispers, saying,

"Is that him? The freak transferee?"

"Medium-length black hair that is tied at the back, and a slim build. Yes, I think he is."

"I truly could not feel mana oscillation from him."

"I told you."

"Despite that, he seems to be so calm."

"Haha. See? I said he's a freak."

"Exactly."

"He will definitely be kicked out of this academy sooner or later."

"What? You didn't hear the latest news?"

"What do you mean?"

"That guy has good backing. The academy will not kick him."

"Eh! Really? But wouldn't the academy's honor be in trouble because of him?"

"Well. I don't know what's happening. This academy is treading on the wrong path this time. I am going to transfer next semester!"
