As the second match was about to begin, Cross and Adam arrived in the lobby of the main building of the academy.
The two looked around and noticed the place was empty.
Cross nodded slightly. "Yes."
Looking at him, it looked like he already expected this to happen.
"Are all the security cameras working?" he asked as he glanced around.
"Okay. That's good, let's go. We can't waste time."
After saying that, they continued moving. Stepping inside, Cross secretly glanced around, especially at the locations of the security cameras hidden in the corners.
Because of what Rebecca said yesterday, Cross found out that there were indeed security cameras in the corners of the academy. That's why, in the evening of that day, or last night, he went out to check the entire academy while everyone was resting.
All his actions so far were not without a reason. Looking for a soulmate might just be a facade. Not entirely wrong or true, but he was indeed searching for someone. Someone's stolen identity, that is.
After checking the whole academy in a matter of a few hours, they hacked its security system so that he could know the location of all the security cameras and other defense mechanisms. But no, just kidding, he didn't do that. He didn't hack its system. The truth was, it was very risky to do so. Certainly, if he were to hack the Academy's security system rashly there was a good chance they would find out about the hacking attempt.
And if that happened they would be aware of a hacker's presence. They might tighten the security, and if not, they would be prepared for his next move.
Even if he used anonymous IDs, it would only ruin his plan, so nope.
Cross didn't want that to happen, so what he did was he spent a few hours checking the entire building manually last night to find out all the locations of the security cameras and other types of defense mechanisms.
After a stealthy invasion in this building last night, Cross successfully discovered the locations of all the security cameras and all the defense mechanisms.
So now, using the information they gathered last night, Cross easily avoided the security cameras through blind spots.
Knowing that all the cameras were working fine actually works in their favour. Not because Cross wanted to be found out but because no one would come to fix it and with that, no unexpected events would come to happen. In short, all were under his calculations.
It might be a wonder why Cross decided to do his objective in the daytime, but it was at this time that the security wasn't so heavy. So right this time was the best time to do it.
Nonetheless, the academy stands as Defense Headquarters, that's why there are quite a number of security cameras around. But as long as you know where they are, it's easy to avoid them.
"That's right."
Cross smiled wryly at what Adam said. "You're right again, Adam. A manaless like me cannot be detected by those sensors."
Cross had also ensured that these sensors did not have a dual function, so he was sure that he was safe from them.
As the two expected, Cross was not detected by the sensors when they crossed the hallway where all the Mana Sensor Defense Mechanisms were stuck.
He went straight to his destination. His destination was none other than the headmaster's office.
He easily reached in front of the door. However, there was a slight problem. The door was locked and required a combination of numbers to unlock it.
Cross turned to Adam.
"It's up to you now," he said.
Cross nodded silently.
Adam flew in front of the digital panel that was right next to the door. The small notch on his panel slightly projected a strange light directly towards the digital panel of the door.
Leaving Adam to his task, Cross looked around. From the glass window right in front of the door, he could see some buildings in the distance. There were also shadows like birds flying in the air. Those were nothing but private flying cars.
Each of those flying cars was worth millions of dollars. So not everyone could afford to buy even its cheapest variant. Only people from rich and famous families own them.
While looking there, Cross noticed the image in the glass. His apparently medium-sized body and handsome face reflected in the glass window. However, upon seeing this, the poker expression on his face suddenly changed to a gloomy face, but it only happened for a moment because he heard Adam's voice from behind.
Cross turned to him.
"You mean that even if the code is entered correctly or incorrectly, they will still know it?"
"I see..." Cross was slightly stunned and thought. So its security is very strict, huh.
However, instead of feeling discouraged, he became more and more curious about what he could possibly discover inside.
He knew that the owner of the room was not inside because he saw for himself on the live video that the headmaster and her assistant were there in the arena. So this was the best moment for what he was planning.
It looked like the security of this door was so good. Cross thought deeply. It was not that he could not open the door safely. In fact he had thought of several ways to do that.
He could destroy it. That way, it wouldn't be detected by the Main System. However, later on everyone would know that the room was forcibly opened because of a broken lock. That said, that idea was not the best choice.
It's better if Adam use camouflage while he entered the combination code. That way the Main System will not know the suspect who opened the door. But then again, Adam could not use camouflage while he entered the code. Even if Adam could do that, it would still be questionable if the door was opened without anyone there.
That's not what Cross wants to happen. He didn't want the Main System to notice anything.
"Let's use the jamming system," Cross didn't say anything other than that, but Adam understood immediately
A jamming node was a computer program that could blind a computerised defence system.
Before starting their plan, Cross had something else to say.
"Also create an auxiliary image using the glass window. An image of a flying car passed close by the window."
"For safety measures," added Cross.
"Not if you lower the projection frequency."
Through his experience, Cross knew that there was a set of rules that a defense system could detect. Even the system here was not exempted to those rules.
"That's better for us."
"It will. But it is better that they have something else to doubt."
Although there was very little chance that the Main System could know that because of the jamming node, it was still better to be sure.
It only took a minute for Adam and Cross to open the door safely. Upon entering, as expected, there was no one inside except them.
They immediately looked around to find the information Cross needed.
Seeing the holographic computer on top of the headmaster's desk, Cross immediately went there. After checking if there was any anti third party mechanism security on it, Cross safely booted up the computer. Fortunately, he didn't find anything related to anti none owner users.
His fingers danced on the digital keyboard like they were racing. After a few seconds of browsing through it, "Adam, quick. Let's copy all this information."
Cross connected Adam using a cord then laid him on the table beside the keyboard. Then after a few clicks, a loading screen could be seen on Adam's panel.
He had no bad intentions towards the headmaster and the academy. He was just looking for information.
After Cross and Adam finished their objectives, the two immediately left the headmaster's office like nothing had happened.
In the arena, the two mechs were clashing. But looking at their exchange, one of them outclass the other.
"Oh my god, that mech is so agile…" the person beside Commander Guren said in a mutter.
Beside him, Guren had a frowning face. Looking at the feminine mech, he questioned himself if there was a chance for Garry to win, next match. Even someone like Leticia could not do anything against her opponent.
Uh, no. In terms of pilot skills, Leticia wasn't lower than her opponent. However, the disparity in their mech's specs was very clear this time.
Although he added advanced movements in M4 Warlord, Garry's appointed mech, it was still apparent that the merchant's mechs were far ahead in specs compared to their Warlord Mechs.
Might as well ask Garry not to continue the battle. Or else, it would only lower his self-esteem after he lost. That boy had a good future ahead of him. Guren could not ruin it.
Maybe he was just going to ask someone to pilot the M4 Warlord in Garry stead.
