The final pair

Upon seeing the message, Cross' expression turned serious. He stood up. When the person next to him noticed this, she looked at him with a question in her mind.

"Giving up?" She asked.

Cross looked at her. "Pardon?" He didn't quite get her words.

"I'm asking if you can't wait for 10 minutes."

Ah, so she meant that, Cross thought.

"Uh, no, something just came up. I just have to leave for a while to answer a call", replied Cross while gesturing to his Mobile Terminal in his hand.

After the announcement about the 10-minute break, the environment became a little bit noisy, so answering a call in such an environment was not an ideal thing to do. Ruru immediately got what he meant.

"I see."

After nodding, Cross left immediately. Ruru only slightly looked at Cross's receding figure before turning her gaze away from him.

After he reached the corner, Adam appeared right beside him.

"No. It's the oldman. He's asking something."

"Maybe."

The two continued walking away, toward the place indicated in the message. Right, it was just a message. He was only using the call as a reason as it was a more convenient reason in that situation.

Back to the arena, because of the 10-minute break, the audience had nothing to do but wait. Most of them had a bitter expressions on their faces, though. They were wondering if Senior Garry had enough skills to win or if he would be the same as the previous two fighters.

"It would have been better if Miss Scarlet was the one who'll fight", one of the spectators suddenly said.

"That's right. If Miss Scarlet was the one who'll fight, there's a good chance that we'll win."

Many of the viewers started blabbering such words.

Hearing such things from the people around her, Scarlet remained nonchalant, but who knows what she was thinking?

Due to the consecutive loss, the previous excitement for the upcoming match has disappeared. There were even some who started leaving their seats. They could no longer look at the result of the next match because there was a high probability that it would be the same as the previous two matches.

William and his crew were part of those who left. He left while saying, "A commoner's battle is not worth watching."

William's reason for leaving might be different from the rest. He always disliked having a commoner in the spotlight while he was in the audience only. Watching such a duel was a big insult to his ego as someone who was born into a family who was deemed as the hero's descendants.

Somehow, he noticed some people around from the same family status as him, but William just ignored them, though he was wondering deep down why these people wanted to watch such a match that they could not learn anything from it. They were just wasting their time, honestly. It was William's honest thoughts.

Merchant Bernard and his assistant, Kuryue, secretly smirked as they saw the departing spectators. However, even though many of the student spectators left, still many stayed to watch.

At the camp of Aleks's group, he was quietly waiting for his match. But his face shows the confidence to win his match.

In the opposite camp, Guren and his staff were still wondering where Garry went. They still couldn't find him.

This would be bad, Commander Guren thought.

The headmaster would surely get angry at him if he produced no fighter in the coming match. He looked at the time and saw that it was already 5 minutes since the announcement.

No matter how much he disliked it, time continued running unhindered.

The remaining five minutes passed quickly. Everyone heard the announcer again signaling the start of the final match.

"Alright, everyone! Thank you for waiting! Now let's resume the duel!"

The audience immediately started cheering, but not as cheerful as before.

Aleks' lips immediately curved upwards when he heard this announcement. You could also see the glint in his eyes that indicates intense excitement and hatred.

The expression on his face was noticed by his companions.

Hehe. Isaac grinned. At this point, as long as Aleks showed that kind of face, no one could stop him, Isaak thought.

The first mech to come out was from the foreigner's camp.

It was Aleks.

As everyone expected, it was another Mech of the Lizardman Series. However, this time, the mech wasn't bulky like the one used by Isaak and it wasn't feminine like Katya's Mech.

It has only a medium size like the Warlord Series. The crowd frowned when they saw this. They already knew the capability of these mechs. Its ability was too high compared to their Warlord Series.

As everyone was enthralled by Aleks's mech, one of the spectators suddenly noticed something from the opposite side.

"Eh? Where's our fighter?"

Those who heard that instinctively looked in the direction of the entrance where their fighter supposedly came out.

As the person said, when they looked in that direction, they could not find anyone coming out from it.

"Where is Senior Garry?" Agnes asked while frowning.

Honestly, the majority of the audience had the same expression as her. They were also wondering why Senior Garry had yet to show.

Noir and Cai were also wondering, but both of them just remained silent.

"Let's wait, maybe he'll come out soon", Scarlet said to Agnes.

Suddenly, after saying that, they suddenly heard a guffaw from Vaan.

"Ahaha!"

The group looked at him with question marks floating above their heads.

"I'm sure Senior Garry is afraid to fight", Vaan said after a laugh.

"No way! Senior Garry is not a coward!" Agnes was fast to retort.

The group shifted their gaze from Vaan to Agnes.

"Eh~ do you know him in person, Agnes?" Dereck asked.

"Uh, no no no! I mean… someone like him who trains so hard can't be a coward, right?" Agnes replied.

"Agnes got a point", Scarlet said.

"Wait!" Sherry suddenly shouted so the group looked at her. "Isn't this the same situation as the first match?"

"That's right. I'm sure something just came up that caused Senior Garry's delay", said Agnes.

However, the other spectators didn't share the same thoughts as them. Most of the spectators looked worried. They already received insults after Gerald was late to enter the battlefield earlier. And if Senior Garry would not come out this time, they could not imagine what insulting words they would receive from these foreigners later on.

In the battlefield, inside his cockpit, Aleks was waiting while knitting his brows. But unlike Isaak, he was silent.

If his opponent would choose to back out in this duel, his thoughts towards these people in this country would only get worse. They were initially trash for him and now he figured out that even trash was an overstatement to describe these people. It looks like they were sh*ts.

"F*ck! Where is Garry?!" Commander Guren exclaimed.

They already searched everywhere but still could not find Garry's shadow. The academy would surely punish Guren later on for not doing his job properly. His allowance would be cut in half or in the worst-case scenario, they would fire him. Commander Guren could not afford to be a jobless man around this time.

If he had known this was going to happen, he would have followed his plan earlier. At least if he did that, he would have enough time to find a replacement for Garry. Now it's too late to find someone to replace him!

Grr!

"Damn Garry, where are you?" He muttered while gnashing his teeth and clenching his fists.

At that moment, he heard a stutter.

"C-Commander… l-look…"

When he glanced outside in the direction where his subordinate was pointing, he saw a mech walking toward the center of the battlefield.

"Wait, that's—" Guren was shocked.

"Indeed, that's the M4 Warlord isn't it?" Said his companion who just arrived behind him.

"I'm sure it's Senior Garry!" Said one of the members of the Mech Soldier Department who was also part of Guren's camp.

The spectators sighed in relief when they saw the M4 Warlord Mech.

"I told you, he's not a coward!" Agnes looked cheerful.

Sherry looked suspiciously at her.

Stare~~~

"Eh? Sherry, what's up with that look?"

A bead of sweat fell from Agnes' face.

"Nothing", Sherry replied with her eyes narrowed slightly.

"O-okay. T-then… Can you not look at me like that?"

"Sus…"

"Hey!"

Arriving in front of Aleks, the M4 Warlord stopped a few meters away from his opponent. A silent gush of wind passed by in the gaps between the two.

Now, staring at each other, both mech's eyes glowed as they waited for the signal to start their showdown.

"Hehe", Aleks grinned. "I'm gonna ruin your life, shithead", Aleks whispered in the speaker. His enemy could hear it but the spectators could not.
