"Yes, but an inch further…" he presses a point with the tip of his finger and her breath hitches. "It stops the heart." Oh, she believes him, for her heart does make a jolt. Something shifts in his eyes, a darkness flares, swallowing the simmering silver. "Don't." His breath fans her face. "Look at me like that."

"I thought you weren't going to teach me how to kill," Seol says for the need of words. Something, no matter how illogical, had to fill the gap that remained between consciousness and an invitingly delicious free fall into heedless nonchalance.

"Right," he agrees, grasping into that faint thread of sanity. His fingers brush against her collar, with a mind of their own. "You don't need me to teach you that." His eyes drop to trace along her throat. "Here," fingers brush and press on her nape. "It renders one unconscious. The lower you go, the longer its effect remains."
