Aria woke up in her room feeling a little better compared to the last time. This time she could move out of bed without any assistance. She couldn,t help but worry for Sir Leon. She had not seen him for God knows how long. She didn,t even know for how she had slept on that bed.
Her stomach suddenly growled and she knew she was hungry. As if gods were on her side, a plate of food was on the table waiting for her to do some justice on it. She quickly swung into action and stuffed bits of it in her mouth.
The door swung open revealing the king. He was wearing a worried face, something very unusual of him. Aria could not help but worry what was with her father. King Marcus entered the room and begun to pace back and forth. Aria looked a little alarmed by his behavior and stopped eating for a while.
"What's with that look father? Has something bad happenned?" The king stopped in his tracks and looked at her. He nodded before continuing,"Yes. Something bad is just about to happen to you and I'm afraid I can't do anything about it."King Marcus spoke fuming in anger,"All of this because of your stupid show off of your magical powers."
Aria was worried about what would happen to her. She looked at her now angry father with questions written all over her face.
"The council discovered about your powers and they will definitely take action on you. The date of the trial has already been set.It will be two days from now. I'm afraid I can't do anything to stop them from,"he inhaled deeply,"never mind."
Fear gripped Aria as it dawned on her that she might die any moment from now.She atleast didn't want to die now. Where exactly was Leon when she needed him most. Thinking of him, she had not seen him since the day she attacked him on the training ground. She even wondered how long she had slept.
"Have you seen Leon?" King Marcus looked at Arai with a deathly stare. It was eveident that he could have killed her if she were someone else.
"I am thinking of how to save you from death and you, you are asking me, the king of the whereabouts of a mere knight." Aria shuddered in fear after hearing his reply. What had gotten into her father. The thought of him abandoning her came into her mind and tears flowed through her face. King Marcus stare turned from that of anger to that of worry.
The princess continued crying like a baby while the king stood there not knowing what to do. He gave up and hugged her while tapping her back to comfort her. It somehow worked as she mellowed down after sometime.
"I miss my mother." The king broke from the embrace and looked at his daughter.
"I understand it Aria. I will do everything I can to see that you will survive this." Aria nodded at her reply gaining new determination.
"Speaking of your mother, I didn't think she would give her gift to you." Aria looked at her father surprised.
"My mother had magic powers? And she passed it down to me?" Her father nodded to her.
"The council executed her once they found out that she possessed magic. I will make sure you do not suffer the same fate as your mother."
Her father stood up and patted her flashing a smile at her."I will take my leave now."
"Father,"she called out halting him on his tracks,"thank you."
King Marcus flashed a comforting smile at his daughter and left. Now Aria was left alone in her room one again. She knew that she was prohibited from leaving her room until the council determined her fate. Maybe this was her end, she thought. She atleast felt happy that she knew her source of power.
Staring blankly outside through the window, Aria could not help but wonder the pain her mother went through the hands of the ruthless council members. She feared that she would undergo the same.
