Chapter 16

"Julia... Wake up wake up..." while tapping her cheek gently, I can feel her softness, and I see her adorable sleeping face.

She started to open her eyes.

"Joseph? What's wrong?"

"Did you forget that today is January 1st? Let's get ready."

That's right, it's a new year. It's time to avenge last Christmas that sucked. Luckily I had discussed this with Yuri and he gave me the idea to enjoy the first sunrise at the top of the mountain near the city.

Yesterday I also discussed this with Julia and she agreed to this plan.

After washing our faces and changing our clothes, we got into the car. Since it's just a small event, we don't need to bring too much stuff.

"You can drive the car?" she asked.

"Don't worry, I've had my driver's license since I entered college because I use it to take the car with the harvest to the city. Honestly, I don't want to have to deal with the police city.

"Alright, be careful when driving it."

"Geez, you treat me like a child."

"No, this is proof of my care for my boyfriend." she smiled.

She's good. I got a direct shot.

After starting the car engine, it wasn't long before we were on our way. You could say that this was my first trip with her by car.

I am nervous.

Since it was two in the morning, the streets were a bit dark. But since we were in the city, we were helped by the street lights when we reached the highway.

I enjoyed the song played in the car with the street lights accompanying our journey. They seemed to synchronize.

I was a bit scared at first because it was quite a long journey. Luckily the city has a toll road that goes straight to the mountaintop road, so we arrived in less than two hours.

It's four in the morning and we're already on the road near the top of the mountain. It's getting colder, so it's a good thing we're wearing jackets because we know we're going to a cold place.

It wasn't long before we found the restaurant where we were headed.

Yuri told me earlier that restaurants are open twenty-four hours on New Year's Day because many people want to enjoy a meal while seeing the first sunrise of the new year.

It was also a good thing that he helped reserve the place for us.

He is truly an angel.

After parking the car, we go straight in, and it's amazing how crowded it is even though it's very early in the morning.

We head to the reception desk and mention our names, then the waiter tells us our table number. We see that our table is outside the restaurant, where down there is a small river flowing from the top of the mountain, and around it is a small rocky path where we can walk to.

"This place is amazing. I didn't expect you to be able to book it."

"You could say I asked my friend for a favor."

"Who? Mia?"

"Hahahaha...." Julia looked at me in confusion. "Sorry, I thought you were joking. His name is Yuri, I met him at the public library, and he's your reader."

"Whoa, he's so nice. I'd like to meet her and thank her."

"I will introduce him later. Let's get something to eat first, driving for two hours is making me starving."

"Right, I'm starving too. I almost bit you in the car."

If that's the case, I don't mind.

We ordered the breakfast menu with coffee. Before long, our order came.

"They're so fast," Julia said.

"I think they were fully prepared, the waiter also suggested the breakfast menu. I guess that did the trick and they've already prepared a large portion in the kitchen, so it's just a matter of warming it up."

"You know a lot."

"In the village, I sometimes help out in the kitchen when we're short of people."

"Oh yeah, I forgot, my older sister runs an inn business too. I lived in the city for so long that I forgot about our family."

"Do you miss home?"

The smile on her face faded a little because of my question.

"I'm sorry, I guess my question just now wasn't good enough."

She shakes her head. "No, it's just me being like this."

We starts to eat our food, but the situation became awkward, and I had to do something.

I look at the river below us. It doesn't take long before I get up.

"What's wrong Joseph?"

I took her hand and walked her down to the river below us. We walked along a rocky path, occasionally Julia almost fell because of a small slippery stone, but I held her so she wouldn't fall.

Finally, we reached the bottom. I look at the river up close, it's so beautiful.

"Julia, come here..."

"The river is cold, you'll get sick!"

I had to use a forbidden move.

"Water in a hole!" I splashed river water on her.

"Joseph, stop! It's cold! You're like a child!"

"And you look like an old lady who can't have fun."

I seemed to hear a cracking sound.

Oh! I was wrong, it is actually the sound of a demon seal breaking out.

With an annoyed face, she splashed me with river water.

"Huuuuh, it's cold...." it feels to the bone.

"Sorry, I took it too far. Your words were too much."

I approached her and raised both my hands and put them on her cheeks.

"Joseph, your hands is cold!"

"Then, let me warm you up."

I kiss her.

I don't care about the people upstairs seeing both of us. Because this is the moment I've been waiting for.
