Genos

- My Pov -

After dropping off Mosquito Girl at the lake, I went back to Z city to investigate what took place as a result of my intervention, which had the potential to alter the course of events in One Punch Man's main plot.

As is my custom, I find it most interesting to look down from a great height, so I made my way to the top of a building in Z that was sufficiently high for me to survey the entire city.

The sky is overcast today, just like it was in the anime One Punch Man. It should be time for Mosquito Girl to venture into the city and begin draining the blood of any humans who have refused to return inside the house despite already being warned by the hero association.

Mosquito Girl was nowhere to be found, and this outcome was brought about as a direct result of my actions. Genos should have been able to find Mosquito Girl, but I'm not sure if he'll still be coming to this Z city.

"ohh, interesting," I mumbled as I saw something coming.

I can see a swarm of mosquitoes in the distance, and their numbers are so great that they could cover the sky of this city Z. The swarm of mosquitoes is sweeping across the city like a dark storm.

Sometimes I can hear screams coming from different parts of city Z. When I look down, I can also see people running not too far from where I am right now. These people appear to be running through the streets and alleys with terrified expressions on their faces.

People would yell and look back every once in a while when they heard a large swarm of mosquitoes approaching from behind them in close proximity.

One of the men lost his footing, and in a matter of seconds, the swarm of mosquitoes that had been chasing them dove on top of the unfortunate man. Immediately, I was able to hear screams of agony coming from him.

"ahhh...helpp...please..."

"am going to die... ahhh..."

The poor man continued to scream, but the people in front of him didn't seem to care. In fact, they all started running frantically without looking back.

However, it seems that the fate of that group of people was predetermined from the beginning, as a swarm of mosquitoes consisting of a greater number came from in front of them to sweep them away, and now they were stuck in the middle of it all.

"damn it..."

"What should we do..."

"are we going to die..."

"No... I don't want to die now..."

The group consisted of several male and female juveniles, and, based on first impressions, they appeared to be the type of urban delinquents that one would expect to find here.

Because of this, it was only natural that they were in the situation that they were in now. Despite having heard the announcement warning them not to leave the house because it was dangerous, they still broke the rule and took it flippantly.

If you ask me why I didn't save them, the answer is that I don't care. I'm not a hero or whatever else you want to call it. However, just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't have the ability to save them or some other lame excuse.

I thought, 'heck, I could even eradicate all the swarms of mosquitoes in this city Z, but I don't want to do that.'

It's just that I don't really care about other humans or other creatures who won't be useful to me or have little benefit for me. However, if there is a side character among them, that's a different story.

'They are not even some side characters. They are simply characters that can be discarded at any time and replaced with something else, such as copy-paste.'

"Besides, someone's going to save them soon," I muttered under my breath while keeping an interested expression on my face.

Because I could see someone flying this way at high speed, like a flaming rocket, in the distance.

That person was completely fearless as he made his way through the swarm of mosquitoes in front of him. Instead, the swarm of mosquitoes that he passed was burned and destroyed by the high-temperature fire that was on that person's back.

While I was considering something, I mused aloud in a low voice, "Looks like the future is adjusting itself."

As you may have guessed, the person who came was Genos, and it appears that this swarm of mosquitoes is still following the story and entering City Z even though the Mosquito Girl is not present.

And with uncountable numbers, these swarms of mosquitoes are still making a bit of a mess, and Genos, who has been following the Mosquito Girl, also decided to come to Z city.

At first, the arrival of Genos caused this group to look surprised. After seeing Genos easily burn the swarms of mosquitoes around him, this group of delinquents immediately looked excited, and they even started screaming.

"wow... look at that..."

"so strong..."

"Is he a hero?"

Genos is able to quickly and effectively burn the area around him with the help of his cyborg technology. As a result, swarms of mosquitoes within a few meters of him are immediately charred.

Genos spoke to the group in a monotone while projecting an expression of grave concern as he looked at them, "You'd better leave now."

After that, the delinquents could only nod enthusiastically, and their gazes upon seeing Genos were filled with admiration and respect. However, they dashed out of the area.

As time went on, larger swarms of mosquitoes began to congregate over City Z. It was almost as if these mosquitoes were aware that Genos' existence posed a danger to them.

"huff."

I don't know how or why I started to sigh, but it seems not much has changed in the story, including the fact that Saitama is still meeting up with Genos.

I turned my head ever-so-slightly to the side and saw a bald man chasing after a mosquito while holding some kind of insect repellent in his hand. The man's facial expression clearly showed that he was very irritated, and even the bald man began to scream.

"Stop you, damn mosquito..."

"Where are you going..."
