I was dragged to my little table, where I sat just minutes ago, sipping away into the night. They stood on each side looking down at me. I anxiously folded myself, facing down my lap as I fumbled with my palm together to calm my raging nerves.
The muscular guy walked in slow strides, "How's the situation outside," he asked him
"No one in sight, they were too preoccupied with the party to notice anything"
He laughed hysterically, "they should have their fun while it lasts." Then his tone turned dark. "Did he follow us here?"
The muscular guy narrowed his eyes at me. I felt a shiver run down my spine, and then he said, "he stopped at the borders and can't get in."
Who were they talking about,
"It won't be long before he barges in here. We have to hurry and take over this pack before he gets in."
"How is she going to be of use?" His lips pursed in a tight line "Also, how can we trust her" he added.
"She is of plenty use, and don't worry we have a mutual understanding as rogues who all want to survive." He stroked my cheek softly then gripped it instantly "However, …" He turned to his ally. " Bring the stuff" he went out of the hut only to come back with what seemed to be a bottle filled with a purple liquid.
He held my cheek, forcefully, prying my mouth open as he dropped the liquid down my throat while his ally held my hands behind me in place. It was bitter and had a foul smell to it. I wanted to throw it up.
"Try to spill it and you will regret it," he warned. I obediently swallowed every drip down. "Now that's a good girl" he patted my head gently.
"You are very docile. I like it." He held a piece of my hair as he stared solemnly at me. I coughed from choking a bit after he let me go.
"What did you give me? '' I asked, my hands tied behind the chair. When did he…
"Just a little wolf's bane to keep you in check. Now you will think twice about trying to betray me." He stated
Wolf's bane, is a plant-based poison for wolves weakening their resolve to that of a normal human. But this tasted different from the one I was given before.
He smiled mischievously, seeing I had noticed it too. I stared into his eyes feeling a sensation I hadn't felt before. My heart thumped loudly, at the sight of him. I felt drawn to him. Like I would do anything for him.
I gulped down my saliva, my throat dry from thirst. But it wasn't any kind of thirst.
He came closer to my face, " you're feeling it already, aren't you? this isn't any type of wolf's bane. It's my special concoction. It creates a certain kind of bond that one would feel towards an actual pack member or you could say, a mate." He said in a proud tone. He dropped his hands on my shoulder.
"We'll wait for a few minutes for it to take effect and then we will move on with the actual plan. " they left me on my chair wriggling about.
I was starting to feel dizzy and faint. Like my head was spinning in a circle and wouldn't stop. Now I felt like throwing up. My mouth felt dry. I looked at the table and the little liquid in the bottle that remained called to me. I was so thirsty. I inched closer to it. I just needed a sip to quench my thirst. Was what I thought.
I pushed the table hard making the bottle topple to the ground. The glass shattered as it hit the ground. I fell into an awkward position still tied to the chair. My face fell onto the shards of glass. It was painful but all I wanted to do was reach the liquid on the floor. Stretching my face across the floor filled with broken glasses. I dipped my tongue in the red liquid. It wasn't enough. I wanted more. An insatiable craving lingered in my throat, growing more and more every second.
My vision blurred around and it was hard to make out who came in and stood beside me. I felt like I was being lifted across the floor. Feeling numb all through.
My senses went haywire as I didn't know where I was headed. I knew we were moving but I didn't know where we were headed. Flailing around and hanging on the body of the person who carried me. They finally stopped only to drop me on my feet. I heard a loud ringing so sharp I crouched down on my knees holding my palm to my ear.
"Make it stop," I screamed. It didn't stop but grew louder.
"Did I forget to add that there were some side effects?" the rogue said, " unfortunately since it's a concoction it makes one rather unstable."
"Do we leave her here"
"Yes, she will complete the rest" They left to hide in a corner out of sight.
Left in my misery, I started hearing echoes that sounded like a voice "Do you want it to stop so badly, then kill everyone" the voice echoed in my ear.
the piercing sound intensified. Why won't it stop?
"Kill all of them and it will stop," it said over and over again. I shook my head trying to not listen.
"Stop!!" I shouted once more.
I looked up seeing a hazy light and a crowd of people gathered together singing and dancing. This was the festival. When did I get here? I winced again at the sharp sound. It felt like my ear could burst if it continued anymore.
Feeling the frustration and anger boil in my veins I just wanted some peace. Why can't I get that? Yes, if I killed them it would stop. the noise will stop. I reached out my hand only to fall into darkness.
All I could hear after we're the scream of everyone around. It was dark but I could hear them ever so clearly.
After some minutes it had gotten silent.
I opened my eyes a little hearing footsteps approaching me. Who was it?
"They ran away, didn't they? Make sure to catch them. We'll clear everything up here." The person said in an authoritative voice. Before I was thrown into pitch darkness.
