"Wait!" Beige's voice echoed across the room.
"Give up, boy. Being alpha was never your calling." The alpha interjected, as his men surrounded them.
"I am not the Alpha!" Beige shouted, causing a sudden pause in the room. The audience was confused. Beige's finger pointed to Lucien behind him. "He is the alpha you want. I will offer you him only if we make a proposition, and it is one that you can never refuse. Only if you hear me out."
"You think I'm stupid? You have no say here in my court. I can have you killed here, and you wouldn't even be able to escape. You're only wasting time on the inevitable." The alpha's face flushed red with anger.
The alpha turned to his men. "You heard me darn well. Seize them." He barked his orders with thunderous authority.
Beige withdrew. There was no reasoning with him. He had been fooled and sent here to die. He had made a mistake.
