The first downfall 

The news of Lucien's disappearance spread far into different packs. It was as though he had vanished. Some said he had abandoned the war he started because he saw no end. It led most to call him a traitor. A coward Alpha of his pack. Anyone still in his support was ridiculed, and the soldiers were torn between themselves. 

His suspicious behaviours prior to his disappearance didn't help claim his innocence. Every finger had turned to him to blame for their demise. They lost more battles as the enemies advanced; they were backed into their lands. The death tolls of both soldiers and innocent pack groups living close to the border increased, and the manpower had stretched thin.
