Golden Gate Academy

Parlon City is divided into five regions.

The Western region is the business district of the city while the Central region is home to two of the great magical academies, the Golden Gate Academy and the Cleanland Academy.

There are a total of five magical guilds within the city and each of the border regions has at least one magical guild for security reasons.

At this time, the trio are walking on the streets of Parlon City alongside an academy student, Holdem. The trio looked around with awe in their eyes, experiencing life outside the sealed village.

After living in the sealed village of Milan their whole lives, everything outside is a new experience for them. Although Rick wasn't new to cities, this was his first time inside a medieval era city with magic.

It didn't take long before they reached the entrance of the Golden Gate Academy.

"True to its name, it's indeed the Golden Gate Academy" Rick said as he gasped.

In front of them is a huge gate made of gold, at least 15 meters tall, surrounded by gigantic walls even bigger than the city walls. Two men in white guard uniforms stood on the sides of the gate.

Holdem approached the guards and talked to them for a minute before the guards nodded. He then approached the trio and said "Follow me. Remember, don't cause any trouble. Don't speak, just let me handle the talking, alright?" to which the trio nodded in response.

They then entered the academy as they looked around the surroundings. Aside from the huge Golden Gate at the entrance, everything inside looked normal with buildings with some students roaming around the Academy.

They passed by one of the training grounds and witnessed academy students cast their spells. The pupils of Rick's eyes narrowed when he saw their spells. He couldn't help but notice that the efficiency and power on their spells are better than the trio.

'As expected of a magical academy' Rick thought to himself as he continued walking.

Eventually, they stood before a door. Holdem took a deep breath to calm himself down and looked at the trio once more before saying "I'll ask this one more time. Are you three related to Lisa Ferlon?"

"If you three lied to me, I'll have you know that it won't end well for you" Holdem added as the corners of his eyes narrowed while looking at the trio.

They nodded and assured Holdem that everything would be fine.

Holdem then knocked on the door before he opened it as they entered the Vice Headmaster's office.

A pink haired woman on white robes sat on a chair with her hands on a desk as she looked at Holdem and the trio with a faint smile on her face.

"I've been waiting for you" the woman said with a gentle tone.

For some reason, Holdem's body slightly shivered for a while when he heard her words. He didn't dare to make eye contact with the woman in front of him.

After a moment, he heaved a sigh of relief when he realized that the trio were actually related to the Vice Headmaster, otherwise, he'd be so screwed.

"You can take your leave, Holdem" the woman said as she signaled for Holdem to leave.

Holdem then performed a slight bow before he turned and walked away from the room.

"So you're the kids the village chief chose to send away this time. How's the village doing?" Lisa asked as she tilted her head slightly to the right.

"I'm not sure, they said everything's fine but the last time we were inside the village, there was a loud roar that shook the forest and the next thing we know is that we were outside the barrier and that the village is permanently sealed" Rick said with a shrug.

"Is that so? Then how about you three, how are you doing so far, outside the village, I mean" Lisa said as her pupils narrowed for a while.

"Everything's new, it's as if we have to be wary about everything.. but aside from that, it's wonderful.. Excuse me, ma'am.. but are you really my aunt?" Carla replied as she looked at Lisa.

"You're Lawrence's daughter and I'm her older sister" Lisa said as she chuckled.

"Now that you met me, you're all under my care now. I'm sure you have a lot of questions but for now, just follow me" Lisa said with a grin as she walked away.

The trio then followed her until they arrived in an empty open space. The place appeared to be devoid of any other presence aside from them.

Lisa then faced the trio and flashed out a gentle smile as she raised her right hand forward. The trio tilted their heads in confusion as they looked at Lisa.

"[Deprivation]"

Suddenly, the corners of the trio's eyes widened in terror as they held their necks while choking.

Rick's brows frowned as he looked at Lisa before he turned his gaze towards Carla and Leon who appeared to be struggling for breath.

He then grabbed a crumpled paper from his pocket and threw it in Lisa's direction.

"[Phantom Rush]!"

Lisa raised her right eyebrow as she looked at the approaching crumpled paper with a frown on her face. She tilted her head to the right in an attempt to dodge the crumpled paper.

Suddenly, the corners of Lisa's eyes widened in shock as Rick's figure disappeared from her line of sight.

She then turned her head around to look for Rick's figure. It was at this moment that she noticed a knife beneath her chin.

"What do you think you're doing?" she heard a voice from behind.

Rick said as he held a sharp knife that threatened to slit Lisa's neck the moment she made a move.

"How?" Lisa said with a low voice.

She still had no idea how Rick suddenly appeared behind her.

However, Rick didn't reply.

Lisa let out a sigh and relaxed her neck before the corners of her lips curled up to a faint smile.

"[Repulsion]"

When Rick heard Lisa's spell, he hurriedly tried to slit Lisa's neck but he was suddenly sent flying backwards by a blast of air that came out from Lisa's body. He made a backflip several times before he could stabilize his footing.

A small drop of blood came out from Lisa's neck as a straight and sharp horizontal line marked her neck.
