Mind Manipulated

“Different? What makes me different?”

“You pretend you don’t know? See, you this morning. You surprised us. First, you suddenly recovered. Second, you run faster than the wind. Of course, that’s not what humans normally do, is it?”

Billy looked closely at Catalina’s face. Under the bright crystal chandelier of the room, Catalina’s face looked beautiful. Soft silhouette lines formed Catalina’s face. The perfect aura from the Luna. That view made the alpha inside Billy can’t wait any longer.

Billy tried his best to suppress the alpha in him. He didn’t want the alpha to show up himself. He didn’t want to frighten Catalina. Now Catalina suspected him. Billy needed a smart answer to satisfy her curiosity.

Catalina was still busy with her food. She didn’t notice that Billy was staring at her deeply. Billy closed his eyes for a moment. When he opened his eyes, a blue light flashed in his eyes. Just a split second, then disappeared.

“Billy, do you want to add to your meal?” asked Catalina.

“That’s enough. I’ll finish this one.”

“Sorry, I will finish my work. May I go back to my room now?”

“Catalina, may I stay here temporarily?”

“Stay here? Isn’t there someone who will look for you?”

“It’s precise because some people are looking for me. That's why I need to hide here for a while.”

“Who’s looking for you?”

“People who want to harm me. Do you remember the wound on my chest? It was their doing.”

“But….” Catalina looked doubtful.

Giving permission for a stranger man to stay in her house? Worry filled Catalina’s heart. This place looked safe and comfortable. Slowly, she moved to forget Derk and start a new life.

Billy’s simple request sounded scary to Catalina. A man stayed with her? Another else, Billy was a very attractive man.

Oh no! As handsome as he was, for Catalina, men are in dangerous form. They could hurt cruelty. Danger!

Another blue glint flashed in Billy’s eyes.

Catalina thought more. This house was in the middle of the forest. Maybe Billy's request was no problem. Catalina could have had more friends besides Martha. The girl smiled and nodded. Billy breathed a sigh of relief. The first step worked. He would always be around Catalina now.

“Alright, I have to get on with work.”

Catalina stood up and prepared to return to her room. When she almost hit the first step, she stopped and turned to Billy. The man was still busy finishing his food.

“Billy, there is one important rule in this house that you must remember. I don’t like anyone coming into my room. Especially if the door is closed. That means I don’t want to be bothered.”

“Are you going to sleep in that room?”

“Sometimes it’s not your business. You can stay here for a while, but we each have our boundaries. I hope you will leave this house as soon as possible.”

Catalina stepped upstairs. On the way to the room, Catalina was busy with her mind. After she divorced Derk, she always kept her distance from men.

Wait! She had not received an answer from Billy about today’s happened. How could Billy run faster than the wind? Also, how the wound on his chest could heal instantly. Moments after she asked, it was as if Catalina had forgotten to ask for the answer.

She moved closer to the fence between the bottom and the top of the floor. A fence made of wood in the shape of a tree trunk with a natural texture. From here, Catalina could see the entire room at the bottom. She looked at the dining table. Billy wasn’t there anymore. She heard the door closing. Mean, someone just got out of there.

Catalina shrugged. She didn’t want her mood for writing to be extinguished just because of Billy’s presence. At least someone else was in the house now. Martha could sleep tight and no need sometimes wake up at night to check the house.

Outside the house, Billy sat looking out over the ocean. Luckily tonight, he could control the situation by manipulating Catalina’s mind. Made the girl forget the question that was difficult for Billy to answer. Also made the girl agree to his request.

By his power, Billy forced Catalina to agree to let him stay in her house. As Billy unleashed his power, he felt something inside Catalina. Another power that made Billy unable to fully control Catalina’s mind. He would find out about it later.

Cold air and a gust of wind brushed Billy’s face. He used the telepathy function to hear the conversation of other forest creatures. He heard some forest beasts whisper about the chaos going on in the north.

“Max, order Arvon to deal with the chaos in the north.” He talked with Max by telepathy.

“Arvon won’t be able to fight Lexus. His power is less than Lexus. If Lexus had good qualities, he’s comparable to you as an alpha king.”

“Unfortunately, he prefers to be opposite us.”

“You just have a few times, Billy. The werewolves supporting you are getting less and less. You becoming weak now. Meanwhile, Lexus is increasingly showing his power on every side of the world.”

“We know my master key is luna, Max. If I can get the luna soon, then all problems will solve.”

“We’re in a race against time, Billy. It isn’t about werewolves getting less but another reason too. If until our time is over, the Luna doesn’t come, then the curse will destroy everything.”

Billy’s soul rumbled. His heart was beating wildly. As the successor to the alpha king, Billy didn’t want it to destroy the werewolf clan. But now the problem was beyond his control.

Made Catalina fall in love. How and when it would be really unpredictable. The Alpha in Billy continued to urge getting the Luna soon. Actually, Billy was not really interested in Catalina. He did anything just for his clan and the alpha in him.

He was around Catalina because he knew he and his clan needed her. Billy stood from the chair. He ran fast into the forest. In one high jump, Billy transformed into a white wolf with blue eyes.

The wolf ran toward the top of the mountain. His soft hairs fluttered in the wind. When he got to the top, he let out a long howl. He showed the howl, as an expression of sadness for the Alpha King Candidate. Also, a warning to the werewolves to hold back. Ask them to be patient because the Luna would come soon.

Catalina in her room heard the howl. Her heart was sad. Unknowingly, tears fell on her cheeks. While her fingers were busy on the keyboard. Catalina’s feelings suddenly went wild. The howl was like a scream that came from deep within her soul.

‘Why am I crying? Why does the wolf’s howl make me sad?’
