I look away from him, knowing how uncomfortable this topic is, and the fact is I should not have been down in the basement. Why did I say anything about the basement?
I snuck behind the maid, trying to find any and every piece of information I could get about Ryder and what he does.
Me and my big mouth!
Ryder turns me to face him so fast that I get somewhat dizzy.
"I may have followed the maid into the basement." I look up at the ceiling and then to the floor, scared to see his reaction.
Ryder grabs my chin and makes me look at him. He seems annoyed but isn't as upset as he could've been. His expression softens.
"Please don't ever go to the basement. You could have gotten hurt. What did you see?"
Should I lie and say I didn't see anything?
Ryder clears his throat. His brows furrow as he crosses his arms in front of his chest. It's best not to lie.
"Your maid took the metal case to the guy to get proof of death. It happened earlier today."
