Chapter 38

I woke up the next day with the sun shining into the library. I stretch and look up at the ceiling.

Another fun-filled day of eating and roaming the hall!

I sit up, looking out of the window. The weather is perfect. A light breeze makes the top of the trees sway. The library window has been my view for the last couple of mornings. I love it!

I could go for a walk. I’ve been here for two months and have never walked the property. Exercising will do me some good.

There has been a lot of tension between Ryder and me since we got back from Italy. So much so that we haven’t spoken to one another, he’s never home, and he stays in his office when he is.

I swing my legs off the couch to stand and hear a YELP! I immediately bring my legs to my chest, looking to the floor.

I stepped on Ryder!

What the hell?!

Why is he sleeping on the floor?

“That was my head, you know?” He asks, scratching the side of his head. I didn’t do it on purpose, and I don’t care! He deserves it!
