Searching for Clues

When the sun peeked over the horizon the following day, we arrived at the shore with Ana and Zed’s help, surfacing just north of the no-man’s land. It was just Marc, Bernicia and me. The smaller the teams, the easier it would be not to stick out.

Pretty soon we had made our way into the tristate area, approaching coastal Chandonis. By then our clothes had dried off completely, and our objective was at least kind of clear.

“Hmmh… I feel kind of naked without armor,” Marc muttered.

“Dude! You have, like, solid metal plates covering your skin,” I told him. Honestly, the nerve of that Guy. It was odd, though – until recently, battle armor was the only thing I had ever seen him wearing. Now that he had donned a polyester turtleneck and running pants, I could almost mistake him for a normal human.

“I’m more normal a human than you,” Marc quipped.

“H-hey. My claim still stands,” I retorted. Typical of him to whip out his special ability the moment I forget about it…
