The sun was low in the sky as we recuperated in the safe house.

“Maybe it was some kind of stasis field, and we didn’t perceive the time we were moved,” Marc was muttering.

“What are you talking about?” I asked.

“The Diamond Eye. When it grew, it was probably just shooting out a holographic image. That’s easy to pull off. But that instant-transport occurrence had to be the result of some unheard-of procedure. The bubbles it trapped us in were likely composed of some kind of electromagnetic suspension material, but it could also have been some variant of the warp field. But then, I’ve only seen warp fields work properly in the microgravity of space, because of its reliance on electromagnetic impulses…” He started muttering to himself some more.

“It was a magic item, you know,” Jetta explained. “Don’t worry about the scientific nuances of it. They’re always gonna defy conventional logic.”
