Dance and Death

Ethan was keeping his eyes on his target while keep switching position. His eyes suddenly trace to a certain man that give him sense of familiarity. He keeps stealing glances for thrice when the man suddenly got alert and turned toward him. The man looked around, trying to found who was looking at him, but he went back to talking with his group since he saw no one.

Ethan was hiding behind another group of bachelor who covered him completely. He took a one last glance and confirmed that it was his identity. He was the same officer who poisoned him but what is he doing here? He has an idea but he is not completely sure. He needs more information for that.

He has another problem now. He can either focus on his primary target or his new target, he just spotted. He made up his mind to pursue his primary target. He didn't ignore him completely and keep glancing at him occasionally.

His main target finally seems to be making a move. He starts ignoring people and headed toward in a certain direction. He went to a young lady starts flirting with her. Did he even take a look at his mugface?

He went closer to him and stand at the distance where he can hear him clearly. He was unable to hear him clearly but it doesn't sound like something important. Ethan looked at other target but notice that he is actually looking right at his primary target.

Ethan can sense that his presence here might really be related to whatever deal is going to happen here. Ethan heard him out and it seems he is asking her for dance. Damn, does it mean he is going to stay here until then?

Ethan had heard many talks as he passed by people. There is still around 10 min. left for dance thing. Does he really have to see that grotesque sight of people hugging each other in intimate ways? Ethan really want to escape this place before that.

Just do what you are here for and leave! Can't this piece of trash hold his urge to ogle her? What kind of adult is this guy? Even he, as a teenager, whose hormones boils inside his body at slight provocation, doesn't think about women that much!

Ethan looked at the waiter passing through him, he pick up a remaining glass of wine from the coaster in his hand. He stopped right at his spot and looked at him.

"…This is for the guest over there, can you put the glass back?"

"…Am I not the guest?"

"…"

"…"

Both of them stare silently at each other. Waiter pointed at a person with his chin, whose back was facing him. Ethan just put it back without much trouble. He just turns around and focused on his job. It's seems his luck won't let him taste the wine before he hit his age.

Ethan just resigned himself to his fate while keeping his eye around. Ethan felt a tap on his shoulder. He turns around and his eyes widen in shock. His second target, the perverted officer who poisoned him around a week ago was standing in front of him.

"Can I help you?"

Ethan tried to hide his nervousness and asked him with a smile. Did he get found out? This question kept repeating in his mind.

"…You are a new face here, young man."

"…There are not many people with a face like this, are they?"

Ethan pointed at his mask and maintained a casual attitude. Officer also kept a friendly attitude but Ethan can tell that it was no coincidence that he had approached him. It only points to two point, either he suspect that or noticed him looking around. In either case, he can't do anything here at the least.

"Mask are just excuses, people can recognize each other fine even with masks on. How do you think these people recognize each other?"

"…By introducing each other."

"Haa, young man, you are funny. I am Miles William."

"…I am Lucas Page."

"…Oh, you're son of Lucius. I never heard about you at all. It seems you are not famous as your other siblings."

Ethan can tell this man is inspecting him. How he casually brought out his own name to get his name… how he is still trying to check if he is lying or not…Ethan happens to throw Lucas name inside the bus. He had no idea what he is talking about but he doesn't need to…

"…I am studying in LIFE."

"…Oh, Good, Good, It's good thing that you are hard working or today's kid are not even worth to talk about… Since ceasefire had occurred, youngster had become relaxed and incompetent. They don't even try to make a change…"

Officer continuous his talk like an old man trying to educate his junior. Ethan believed that he might be out of his suspicious. Ethan just heard his speech from one ear and flow it out of the other.

He is also focused on his primary target and kept him in his ear range. He can hear him fine that's mean he is still talking with that beautiful lady. Damn, is he really going to sleep with her? She is too young, you cradle robber!

"…Young man. There is something I wish to ask you."

"No need to be polite, sir. Please ask."

"…How did you cure my poison?"

"…"

Ethan look in his eyes. His smile fell replaced by wary expression. He is confirmed now, this guy didn't approach him out of suspicious but he is damn confirmed about his identity!

"There is no way you could have cure it by yourself. It means someone helped you. So, who is it?"

"…What are you talking about?"

Ethan made a dumbfounded expression. He is already screwed up and now all he can do is to play dumb but it seems it won't work as officer sneered at his dumb act.

"…I already confirmed your identity. I was really surprised when I sensed you again. I thought you died already but that annoying bitch does seem like a competent one. So, it's no surprise that you are alive."

Ethan kept silence because he really doesn't know what to do. He can't escape this place as this guy will just chase him down. He can't weasel his out of this...

"…Young man, I have another question to you. Do your presence here also a coincidence or do you have another motive?"

"…"

"…No answer. Huh? It seems you will stick to your side till the end. How about this? You handed me that slut and I will leave you alone. It's a fair deal, right?"

"…I have no idea, what are you talking about?"

Ethan was falling backward as he tried to think of a way out of this but nothing comes to mind that can turn his situation around.

"…You do know that you can't escape, right? I took you as a smart one but if you think you have a way out of this then you sure are a foolish one…"

Ethan felt his heart sinking with his every word. He felt a panic pain in his heart. Does he really have no option around?

"Excuse me?"

Ethan turns around as he heard a familiar voice from behind. Li Lin has been standing right behind looking at him with a smile.

"…If you're not busy, can I talk with you?"

Ethan smiled as a way out is finally here. He turns to officer and smiled at him.

"…It's seems I found a partner for myself. I enjoyed talking with you, sir. We may meet again in future…"

Ethan turns around and holds her hand, even though he can't felt her skin due to gloves but he can still felt his warmth.

Officer didn't say anything but wave at him with a smile. Ethan leaves the scene and his face fell. It's not like he can keep running away. The moment he left this building, this kid's life will be in his hand. He will take his time to get that bitch information out of him. He will make sure that bitch will know whom she messed with after all.

A lewd smile forms on his lips as he think about her. He will get his revenge and that woman at once!

Ethan again pulled her behind the same pillar he took her before. He looked at her with a relief. She really did save him.

"Do you want something from me?"

"…I saw that...you were talking to that man. You didn't look well, so I helped."

Ethan was taken aback by her words. Did she really save him? She is the same person who turned whole academy into his enemy and she is actually telling him, she helped him out like that. He doesn't know how to feel about this.

He still remembers her comment on his face. She compared his face to the rotten dogs. Should he really forgive her? Can he really forgive her? He chose not to be a narrow-minded person in the end.

"Thank you."

But there is no way he will forgive her for saying such a heinous thing about his face. He will take this grudge to his grave if he had to but no way in hell, he will forgive her.

"…Hm."

She nodded his head and both of them stared at each other in their eyes for a moment. She takes her eyes off him and looks away. Ethan just looked at her as it looks like she wants to say something.

"…I helped you right now."

"…Yes?"

"…So, you should also help me once."

Yup, here we go again. No one ever helped him out of goodwill. It happens again and will happen again! He can't believe he almost forgive her for a moment!

"…Go ahead and ask me."

"…I want you to ask me for dance later."

"You what…?"

Ethan looked at her with complicated gaze. He pushed his head back and tilted his head slightly to get a look at her waist. He is sure that people will fight a life and death battle for a chance to wrap their hand around those hips. Is she giving it to him for free?

He thinks about it from other perspective. If he did accept her, what worse could happen? He will receive jealous, envy and curse of other teenagers. Some might try to catch him later but Raven will be waiting to receive him outside so he is not too worried about it.

He can tell she is using him to push other guy away just like past but this time, risk is not too high. He will also repay her favor with this. Everything will settle for once and all.

"…I will but I don't know anything about dance."

"…Don't worry about it. You just need to keep me occupy as long as possible and move back and fro while holding me."

"…Consider it done."

Both of them shake their hands as to complete their deal. She walks away while Ethan stands with the pillar waiting for event to start. Actually, there is another thing that made him to agree to her, that is his target. His target will also take part in dance. He will be able to get close to him.

It wasn't long ago that stage start center of the hall starts emptying and light change according to it, Music also change to a more pleasant tune while men starts approaching women to ask their hand for dance in style. His target also did same and took his partner to another corner of the stage. Ethan considered it for some time but he noticed people approaching Li Lin from all sides.

He hurriedly moves toward her and stands in front of her. He smiles faintly and extends his hand to her. She also smiled in reply and grabs his hand. Ethan slowly drags her and takes her toward his target and stand on his side.

Ethan stands in front of her. He is a little nervous as it is first time for him to touch an opposite gender like this. How the hell he is supposed to hold her without offending her? It will be a lie if he said he doesn't want to make some mistakes but she did trust him after all…

Li Lin took a step toward him and rests her hand on his shoulder as she saw his hesitation. She found it cute as how he was feeling flustered about touching her. Ethan gulped and also grabbed her hand while resting his other hand on her hip. He can't help but think,

'It is exciting!'
