Chapter 11: Flight or Fight?

When they arrived Letz, there was nothing much happenings. It was just a normal morning of people bustling in and out for an opportunity in various ways.

Alan and Miltinna doesn't have any money in their pockets but they did have several pieces of meat, materials, and mana crystals from the monsters they defeated along their way, waiting to be sold.

"Hey, let's look around for merchants willing to buy these monster meat and other things. We should get atleast 5 golds for these." Miltinna snugged Alan to look around but Alan already pointed out the many merchant stalls to sell the monster items.

"I already see one. This place is way convenient just like what mom said! This is a merchant hub!"

"What nonsense is that? Nevermind, We should sell these as possible as we can."

"Leave it to me."

About the money system of this world.

In the western continent, there are various currencies used by people. Although, it's appearance and it's shape is different, it's value and weight is all the same.

Mithril coin is the highest currency denomination, and the smallest is the copper coin.

100 copper coins is equivalent to 1 silver coin

100 silver coins is equivalent to 1 platinum coin

100 platinum coins is equivalent to 1 gold coin

100 gold coins is equivalent to 1 mithril coin.

Alan show his arrogance towards greedy merchants who offered unreasonable prices, but with the help of the experience from his other self, he managed to pressure the greedy merchants, one after another, forcing them to buy the items Alan and Miltinna had to sell. Only a few merchants who can pay them reasonable prices but Alan choose the greedy merchants to extort more money from them, possibly crashing the local market as his other self did that in the VR game multiple times because he was just bored.

They sold everything for the total of 9 gold coins, 33 platinum coins, 85 silver coins, and 67 copper coins. Way more than expected.

Milanni was convinced on Alan's business skills. She saw his potential future business empire being scary and worst. But luckily, he has no plans for that since he has no interest on having a business.

"You are a damned swindler. I am actually scared about your future." Miltinna said that with a scared look on her face.

"I take that as a compliment."

"Don't do that again! You'll make many enemies if you went over the limits."

With a hint of wariness from Miltinna's language, Alan pridefully smug-smiled at her.

"You..." Miltinna angrily clenches her fist but Alan noticed her.

"Anyways, we should find an inn for our stay. We will leave tomorrow morning."

He tried escape from her wrath but the angry Miltinna appears in front of him.

"You need some disciplining, little dimwit."

Alan being the other Alan, he choose violence over peace. The two gone around Letz to find an inn while quarrelling, making the locals scratches their heads with a question mark over it.

Inside of an inn, Alan inquired on the receptionist for available room reservations but,

"Our room reservations are full. We apologize for inconvenience."

"Okay. Thank you, miss receptionist."

Alan went outside to find Miltinna. As expected, she also can't find reservations.

"I went around for recommendations from locals here but all of it are not available or it is full already. How about you? Did you find one?" She asked.

"Nuh-uh. Same goes for me."

They both sighed since all of inns are full. Alan then said,

"We will have no choice but to sleep outside Letz. We should go to the border guards to register a permission to pass. We could leave today if we're lucky."

"Okay, give me more money. I will buy a new set of tent and some food supplies. Our tent is dirty and broken, we also ran out of food ingredients."

He give 1 gold coin and 30 platinum coins to her as an allowance.

"Hey, this is too much. Are you planning something?"

"Just go buy whatever you want. I will go around to find someone else to rent their house instead."

"Well, that's better than staying outside."

"Before Afternoon's bell, go at the border gate and wait there."

"Hmm. Got it."

Miltinna waved her hands in the air and went to the marketplace, while Alan gone around to find a place to stay.

In Afternoon, Alan acquired a permission to pass from the border gate guards, his first impression is they are the nicest people he met in Letz.

The boy then comb through out all the streets of Letz and made a map of it. He asked many people for a place to stay but they're greedy or just outright rejects him.

He went in circles a few times until he returned to the same place where him and Miltinna parted ways. He decided to go on the market to find Miltinna but she found him first instead.

"Oh, Alan. You're back! I just finished shopping and I buy lots of things. You see... I exhausted all of the money allowance you gave me."

She embarrassingly tell him the truth with her eyes looking left and right, but Alan didn't pay attention to her. She thought Alan hated her, she abruptly stopped her embarrassment the she apologized to him with her hands touching against each other like she's praying.

"I'm sorry!"

A scream of undoubtedly woman and shouts from man came somewhere from an alleyway, their instincts urging themselves to find it's source.

"I'm having a deja vu on this."

Alan patted Miltinna's head to let her know her apology is accepted. She titled her head as she's wondering where the scream came from.

"Miltinna, you know what to do. Call the knights. I'll go find the people who screamed."

"'Kay~"

Miltinna went to the local knight's office the notify them.

"What? You heard the screams? That again?"

"What that again, Sir Knight?"

"Okay, do you have someone with you, like family, friend, acquaintance, partners, something like that?"

"Yes sir knight. My partner went to find the source of the scream, he should be there right now."

The Knight who seemed to be with a higher rank called the other knights for a briefing.

"We're sorry but we won't help. Our hands are full since there are too many crimes happening in the place. Again, we are sorry. You can find it if you can. It might not that an important matter."

Miltinna was stupified about the sudden turn of events she cannot grasp it. She decided to go back and find Alan.

Meanwhile, Alan was able to find the source of the scream from another road towards the mansion of the local lord. He was shocked when he saw a carriage that seems to belong to a noble or a royalty. He immediately hide at a nearby alleyway.

Eight men that knights alike fighting another three knights who might die anytime if they made a small mistake.

"You traitors! You have balls to turn a blind eye for this!"

"Protect Miss Hayley!"

"Miss Hayley. Hide!"

The three disadvantaged knights shouting at the young woman urging her to hide but she's too afraid to move. But the traitor knights were just mocking the knights being concerned to their master.

"You will die! We will violate your young master so bad she might give in! Let me take her first!" The one traitor knight in the front said those words

Alan talked in his mind, (What the heck? These guys are iffed up. Drugged too much, probably). He still hides on the alleyway and do nothing.

Inside of the carriage, a voice of a woman was heard.

"Please, young master Hayley. You must hide! Don't let these worthless bandits capture you."

A maid around in her 30's, she's wearing a cut-down dark blue western-style dress just for a use for a maid, not to mention her great appearance, she's a red-haired beauty with a fair white skin that on par with the young woman she served. Whilst the young woman who seemed to be highly belongs to a royalty is wearing a veil, she's almost looks like as the maid in terms of height, body complexity and so.

A desperate maid shake her young master to regain her sanity but it seems she can't handle the trauma.

"Please young master... I don't have to do this but I swore that I will protect your life even if my life is the cost."

She then took out a knife from her legs with a strong killing intent. Alan felt the sudden change of atmosphere, he saw a maid coming out from the carriage slowly while cutting down the already cut-down dress into a kunoichi-like attire. She seems to be powerful enough to take down these traitors knights.

Alan on the other hand, can't do anything because of the local law that he and Miltinna must not meddle with a local problems and issue. All he can do is watch with a cold shoulder.

Miltinna then appeared at his back,

"You seemed busy watching a woman waiting to be violated? I didn't know you want this thing?" She jokingly say those words while patting his back furiously.

"As you can see, we can't do anything. What a stupid law to be implemented by the local lord here in Letz. But the maid seems powerful enough. I felt her change of strength and she looks like an assassin. Who knows, she might take down those men without us intervening or something."

The maid noticed the two and looked at the side of the alleyway where they hinding.

"Sheesh~ Alan, She noticed us!"

"Miltinna!"

He tried to stop Miltinna but the maid said something.

"Please help my young master. Please, I beg you."

"I apologize but we can't do anything. I'm really sorry." Miltinna replied to her pleas.

"Please! Just once! I'll take responsibility for it! Just take her away into safety."

Alan suddenly show himself from hiding, he smiled revealing his intent of wanting to fight.

"Can you permit us to fight those bad guys? Since you said you can take responsibility, I guess we could just cover up like you and the other three knights defend the young miss, or master as you say."

"Just take her away!"

"Well then, I take that as a yes?"

He pulls out a sword from his spatial storage spell and he look at Miltinna, signaling her to fight.

"We had to finish this quickly."

"Yes sir~"

The fight was so sudden, it ended up too quick. Before the 8 traitors even say anything, they fell on their knees and they were also beheaded by the two without remorse.

However, the three knights was traumatized on Alan and Miltinna's actions. The two seemed to be the fearless killers who will kill you in seconds. Messing up with them is a suicidal act.

Moreover, that was their first time killing another human being but they don't feel guilty for it.

Right before those events, the civil war of the Principality Kingdoms of Hrathiae & Pitha has begun already.
