Chapter 13: A fugitive

"Come inside before we get seen by the local knights."

They entered the house without any further doubts. The house isn't that much big or spaceous, just enough. There were only two rooms with two triple-decked bed for each room and 3 futons on the living-kitchen area, an ideal hideout for 12 to 15 people.

Rohna put her young master inside of the first room at first deck on the right side. Meanwhile the pair and the knights sat on the kitchen area since there are little space on the living area.

Needless to say, they're we're able to find a place to hide, for now.

"Let me introduce myself. I am Alamennia Rowertz, the Lord... former Lord of Letz."

Her overall appearance is a leader-like, an ideal of a woman that many other strong women failed to be one. Everyone can assume that she's on her early 30's. Same as brown-haired like Alan's hair color but tied like an office lady, her eyes are grey and almost dull, her height is more taller than an average knight's and her physique is not that muscular nor soft like a pillow. She's just actually looks an average woman to begin with but her aura is totally different. She's like that scary educated teacher from other Alan's world, punishing a lazy student.

"It's our pleasure to meet you, Former lord master." The three knights constrain themselves to show their absolute respect.

"No need to call me that."

"Nice to meet you, Miss Alamennia." The pair bowed at her, she also bows back at them.

She then gazed at Rohna, she was excited when she meet her childhood friend again. In her mind, she was worried if her friend still treats her as like in the past. (Rohna...)

"It's been a week since I was declared as a fugitive. I'm running away from the public eye and of the local knights ever since. Didn't you know that, Rohna? Miss young master must be too tired."

Alamennia ordered her maids to brew a tea and prepare confectionaries.

"Indeed, Miss Alamennia. I do read your letter you sent to us. I'm sorry for your loss of your father." Rohna replies.

"Don't worry about that. What's important is I saved as many of my subordinates as possible. I can't believe they used my father as an excuse to oust my position. They even tried to cover everything up by sending an assassination team from the knighthood."

"I see."

"Rohna, I apologize. I messed up."

"No no no. Don't apologize to me, Miss Alamennia." Rohna flusteredly swayed her two hands on her former friend's sudden apology.

"Oh... I see. You still treat me like that."

Feeling dejected, she can only hide it by staring off somewhere. Their history cannot be known by others. It was already 10 years has passed, she once betrayed Rohna because of a marriage issue. For some reason, they are still singles.

"Pardon us, Missy. I suggest that our knights must get rid of their armor."

For a particular reason, Miltinna suddenly recalled Alan's stories about espionage tactics but she forgot she's not the elder one anymore, she unknowingly addressed Ms. Alamennia as Missy.

"That's not a good way to call me like that, young lady."

Miltinna covered her mouth with her hand and she laughs hysterically when she happened to wrongly address Alamennia.

"I apologize. I just want to say those 3 knights must discard their armor since it can make unnecessary attentions from locals here. They might report it to the local knights. Probably, it's also better if we leave this place as soon as possible because I felt like someone is watching us."

(She does makes sense...) Alamennia thought to herself. She was actually convinced by Miltinna's words.

Hearing that, she began to order her servants to leave this place at midnight.

"You three! Remove your armors!"

Being restless, Rohna stand up to immediately order the knights.

"But..." The female soldier was displeased. "I understand."

The other two knights went to the second room with no complaints while that one female knight, Keithes, prostrate herself to do it anyway.

Inside on the second room, the two male knights remove their armor and it's ornaments, revealing their real physique. It's true that they are the likes of gym-maniacs that works out their body until it's chiseled.

On the other hand, the female knight reluctantly removed her armor as well as it's ornaments. The reason why she becomes a knight it is because she wanted to escape her engagement. But now, she gets in the situation she didn't participate nor predict it. It was like she was being toyed by the fate.

The three knights change their armor into their typical everyday clothings and went out from the rooms almost at the same time.

No one was amazed by the two male's appearance, they seemed to be normal looking in the eyes of the local lord and her servants, Rohna, and the pair. Meanwhile, Keithes is the only one shocked at the two chiseled bodies of her fellow knights, though she's not that muscular, she felt jealous.

"How the ridiculous thou bodies! Me wish mine had one."

Keithes saying that, all people inside the house looked at her with a faint of disgust, (She's unlike the normal girls you see anywhere.), everyone silently utter it.

They all, except for the servants, gaze back at the two male knights, signalling them to introduce themselves.

"Aah- I'm sorry. My name is Kurt, one of personal knights of young miss master Hayley of Juyatt."

"I'm also one of her knights but I'm in a separate department. I am Zhelo, I'm the Juyatt's family cook."

Finished introducing themselves, the black-haired Kurt elegantly bowed to show his gratitude.

The grayish white cook does looks more handsomely looking than the former one, but he seems emotionless compared to Kurt who smiles at anybody they meet.

And lastly, the jealous musclehead girl Heithes, stomped her feet frustratingly after everyone ignores her.

After that, the knights sat down at the table where the pair was also there.

"After we're done eating our lunch. We will leave this place tomorrow or two. Clearing up this place takes time. While everyone is busy, I'll order my servants from another house to watch the entire peasanthood for incoming local knights. They might mobilizing to find us. This is troublesome."

Stress out, Alamennia touching her face with her palm.

The maid served a pot of newly brewed tea and confectionaries to everyone.

Some time later, after they finished eating lunch. Alamennia's servants began their work to prepare for their escape.

"I found them, General Commander Waltr."

"Good."

A man on his robes reporting his successful search of the fugitives.

"Here's your reward."

The general throw some pieces of gold at the man but he disgruntled to pickup the reward.

"I will not work with you anymore. You're presumptuous!"

"Yeah yeah. Get out from here."

Waltr swayed his hand and gazing his eyes off from the robed man. The robed man left from the tent with a bad attitude.

Suddenly, another man clad in black appeared besides General Commander Waltr who appears to be an assassin. Alongside with the assassin, there are a total of 16 shadows painted at the walls on the tent, waiting for an order.

"What is it? Master."

"In midnight, kill all of them. They are on the last row, 15th house in peasanthood at the western part of Letz. Make sure you won't fail."

"Yes, Master."

General Commander Waltr pick and light up his freshly made blunt. He put it on his mouth to taste its flavor but it's rather a dull one. He throws it outside from the tent without putting out it's embers. He looks at the running robed man from a distance, thinking with a bad intention.

"Oh yeah I almost forgot. Kill the informant."

"Absolutely, Master."

After he execute an order, the assassin and the shadows on the wall disappeared completely without a trace.

Unfortunately for the robed man, he was instantly killed after he left the local knight's base. His entire body was thinly sliced until it dissolves into the air. There were no traces of blood nor flesh. It was a scarily clean assassination.

"Uhhm... We don't really want to say this but, can you allow us to store everything in our spatial storage spell?"

""""What?!?!""""

Everyone was dumbfounded when Alan tell their intentions.

"I mean, We absolutely know spatial magic is rare, super rare in fact. Me and Miltinna just want to help you since we are now stuck in this situation."

"..."

Still being dumbfounded, Alamennia didn't even say anything.

"Isn't that convenient? Mine family has a low tier spatial storage ring that can only store about a size of a normal horse-drawn carriage."

"..."

She was ignored by everyone. Being left out, she smiled bitterly.

"Well then, We will do so. Still, we need to rest here for tomorrow's escape."

Alan pats Miltinna's shoulders to begin their outrageous job, to store tons of equipments and other things inside of their spatial storage spell.

"Don't include the bed and the futon!"

"Sorry."

(These troublesome kids. Where are their parents?) She's worried on the pair's mischievous actions.

Midnight came, everyone was sleeping soundly.

The assassins began their move by silently breaking out the window.

Pretending to sleep, Alan noticed the oddness of atmosphere, he felt another deja vu that was similar to what happened his other self in the VR game.

*squeak*

A sudden flux of mana traces felt by Alan.(Asaassins?) he opened his eyes as he feel the presence of the intruding assassins.

Cautioned by the noise, he softly slap Miltinna's face to warn her.

"The assassins did come. Just like we've roughly expected.", he put his mouth closer on her ears, he whispers.

"This will be a bloodbath. Well, this is our opportunity to test our skills."

"Oh my. They need some taste of fear and nightmare for interrupting our good night sleep."

The pair cloak themselves in the dark shade night to hide their presence.
