(J.J POV)
"You and Frida seemed to hit it off." I said while I was driving Marco home.
"She's my mate."
"Oh. Congratulations, no wonder you're being such an extra during the conversation." I said.
"Isn't it funny? You and I are best friends and the moon goddess paired us with mates who are also best friends."
"It truly is magical when the stars align." I responded.
"Also, did you hear the news?" Marco asked.
"What news?" I asked.
"Anya is leaving the country for good." He said and honestly, it shocked me quite a bit.
"Who did you hear it from?"
"Everybody's literally been talking about it in school."
"How come I was the only one who doesn't know?" I asked.
"Maybe she's still hurt by you guys breaking up."
"Poor Anya, I didn't mean to hurt her. For the record, I did like her. I really did but when Ravine came in the picture, everything changed."
"You should say goodbye to her. She's leaving next week so you still have time." Marco said.
"I guess."
----
(Ravine POV)
When Marco said horror movies, I was a bit skeptical because I know I don't do well when it comes to watching scary movies but I can't pass up the opportunity of hanging out with new friends so I agreed to come. I just hope I can make it out the theater alive.
Frida has been gushing about Marco nonstop and they even exchanged numbers. Ever since then, the number one word that has been coming out of her mouth is Marco, Marco and Marco. It's so obvious they're in to each other.
Frida and I are currently at the snack bar of the theater when J.J and Marco showed up.
"Hey! You guys made it." J.J. said.
"Of course, we did." Frida said.
"Pick whatever snacks you like, it's my treat, Ravine." J.J. said.
"Really?"
"Yup."
"What do you want, Frida? I'll pay for it." Marco said holding Frida by her waist.
"I'd like a medium sized popcorn, and a coke please."
"Sure."
"Ravine, how about you?" J.J. asked.
"Just a small sized popcorn, one snickers bar and a water."
"Alrighty."
Marco is treating Frida, J.J. is treating me, is this like a double date occasion? In your dreams, Ravine.
"What movie are we watching?" I asked.
"Midsommar!" Marco said.
"What's that?"
"You'll find out soon enough."
-----
What the hell did we just watch?! That's the thought that kept running through my mind after the movie. There are so many scary and disturbing scenes that I spent almost 1/4th of the time hiding my face in J.J.'s shoulder, much to his amusement.
"Did you guys enjoy?" J.J. asked.
"I did." Frida said.
"I did but why that movie? It's…disturbing." I added.
They all laughed at me.
"Because Ari Aster is the man, bro!" Marco said.
"Where do you guys want to go next?" J.J. asked.
"I don't know. We could maybe walk around and admire the night lights outside." I suggested.
"Good idea." Frida said and that's exactly what we ended up doing.
We walked along the damp sidewalk with Frida and Marco ahead of us and J.J. and me trailing behind them, just admiring the night life of Marydale.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" J.J. said.
"Very."
"I hope you had fun tonight." He said.
"I did. I'm sorry if I'm such a wimp." I apologized which made J.J. laugh.
"It's fine. I like it when you're that close to me."
Wait, is he flirting?
"J.J.?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you have a girlfriend?"
"Why do you want to know?" He smiled.
"Because I want to know more about you." I answered.
"I did have a girlfriend but we broke up."
"Oh, sorry, I shouldn't have."
"Haha, don't be. It's fine. I actually like it better now that I am single."
"What are the benefits of being single?" I asked playfully.
"You don't have to wait for a reply, you don't have to look cute and try so hard for someone, and you don't have to figure out what gifts you are going to give her for her birthday. It's hassle free and you just get to be yourself."
"Ha, I see. Well, do you like someone currently?" I asked.
"I sure do right now." He said.
"What's she like?"
"Very beautiful, of course. She has beautiful green eyes and blonde hair."
Wait! What?! I have green eyes and blonde hair. Could it be me? Oh shut up, Ravine! He said she.
"Does she know you like her?"
"Not yet but someday, she will."
"Well, good luck. She's a lucky girl."
"I know."
There goes your chance, Ravine. He's straight and that's all there is to it.
"Sorry if I ask too many questions." I said.
"Ravine, I really enjoy your company so I don't mind you asking me questions."
"Thanks! I enjoy your company too."
"Would you mind if I do the asking now?" J.J. said.
"No, of course not."
"Would you attend my basketball game next week? I would really love for you to attend and cheer me on."
"J.J., that's amazing. I would love to."
"Nice!"
Oh my gosh! I can't wait. I will do everything to support him. I am even going to buy a jersey shirt that has his jersey number on so we would match and he would know that I am totally rooting for him.
