Ruel chuckled and reached out his hand to touch Daphne, but instantly witnessing his wrist fall to the floor before his eyes, he raised his head to see none other than Luthiel looking at him with no tinge of expression on his face.
He glanced at the bloody sword in his hand and looked at his chopped-off wrist, which had fallen to the floor, tainting it with blood.
A deep frown emerged on his face, and he straightened up to look at Luthiel.
He narrowed his eyes at him and began to examine him while his chopped-off wrist grew into a new one.
"Who are you?" He questioned.
"Don't let your filthy hand touch her," Luthiel warned, not bothering to reply to his question.
"Ahaha! What?" Obviously flabbergasted, a look of amusement emerged on Ruel's face. "Who do you think you are to talk to me like that?" He asked, and Luthiel turned to look at Daphne.
"Are you okay, your highness?" He inquired, completely ignoring Ruel, and Daphne, who had her eyes fixed on his face, slowly nodded her head.
"Ye-yes…am okay…" She spoke as though in a daze, and Lutheil averted his gaze from her.
He returned his attention to Ruel and let out a soft breath.
"Do you mind making your way out? You're ruining someone's marriage." He said, and a darkened expression appeared on Ruel's face almost immediately.
"HOW DARE YOU?!?" He yelled and reached out his balled-up fist to mercilessly punch Luthiel in the face, but Luthiel caught his fist and threw him away, sending him flying onto the wall.
The wall cracked instantly with such an impact, and everyone within the hall gaped at Luthiel in shock.
Never had they seen him exhibit so much power.
They never even knew he was this strong to actually throw Ruel as though he weighed nothing.
Their eyes widened in disbelief, and the only one who didn't seem surprised at all, the emperor, furrowed his brows.
There was something about Luthiel that only he knew and that even his brother, Adolf, didn't have an idea about.
He slowly turned his head to look at Luthiel, and a half-manipulative smile formed on his face.
"Kill him!" He ordered, and Luthiel, who was unwilling, had a darkened expression appear on his face.
"I can't-"
He hadn't finished his words when the emperor abruptly stood up from the throne and walked towards him with his hands placed behind his back.
He stood in front of him and slowly leaned in so that whatever he was going to say, only Luthiel would hear.
"You and I both know what will happen if you dare disobey me. We had an agreement, yes, but till then, you are in the palms of my hands."
He threatened and drew back to look at Luthiel's stone-cold face.
He patted him on the shoulder and ambled back to take his seat on the throne.
It was as though, at that moment, he no longer had any fear of anything happening that night.
Luthiel's hand tightened around the hilt of his sword, and as soon he managed to suppress his anger, he turned to look at Ruel, who had stood up on his feet.
Killing intent flashed heavily in his eyes, and under the gazes of everyone within the hall, he began to storm down the stairs towards Ruel, surprising Yennefer, who did not expect him to actually follow the emperor's command.
Just what exactly could the emperor have told him to get him to move?
She paused and flinched at the same time when Luthiel grabbed Ruel by the throat and slammed him heavily into the ground.
He raised the sword to impale him with the intent to finish him off, but Ruel, who already knew that he would die, quickly dodged the sword and jumped up to his feet.
There was this natural rule that a non-human can kill a non-human, whereas a human cannot even cause a tiny scratch on the body of a non-human.
He could sense Luthiel's burning power, which convinced him that he was no ordinary human.
But…what is he? Why is he here, serving a mere mortal?
These questions popped into his mind, and he raised his head to look at Luthiel.
The killing intent coming from Luthiel hit him, and knowing that he was determined to kill him, a darkened expression ensued on his face.
"I will kill you before you kill me." He smiled widely and clapped his hands, instantly forming two other clones of himself, which caused a deep frown to appear on Yennefer's face.
"Clones!" She exclaimed and shifted her gaze to Luthiel.
"You're not at your peak yet, considering that you have just been released from your cage, so stopping me from killing you will need at least ten of these."
Luthiel glanced at the clones with disdain in his eyes and knowing that he was serious with what he had just said, a deadly smile formed on Ruel's face.
"Well then, I might as well create thirteen of them!" He laughed maniacally, and eleven more popped out of nowhere, encircling Luthiel.
A look of shock occurred on Yennefer's face, and the instant they rushed towards Luthiel, she too hurried off to help him.
There was no way Luthiel could battle thirteen djinns all by himself unless he was some kind of powerful creature.
Luthiel, who hadn't expected her to come to his aid, turned his head to look at her.
"What are you doing?" He questioned her, and she rolled her eyes at him.
"Helping you, obviously."
