29. Indifferent

"Javin, could you help me make a copy of this document, two copies and get it straight into a neat paper?" asked Shone while giving two thick folders to Javin.

"Sure, Phi, I'll do it right away," replied Javin swiftly.

"Thank you, Nong, sorry to bother you," said Shone.

"You are welcome, Phi."

Forth looked at Shone with a frown. Not usually Shone asked Javin to do something like this and suddenly.

Shone waited until Javin entered Forth's study, then he pulled Forth's hand to the back porch and sat on a chair in front of the ornamental pond.

"What's wrong, Shone? You've been acting strange since your arrival earlier and why did you ask Javin to do your secretarial work?" Forth pouted while sitting next to Shone.

"I had to ask him to stay away because I don't think what I'm about to tell you is none of Javin's business to know," Shone replied.

"What is it?"

"I think Harry and I found the girl you're looking for," said Shone. "She lived not far from the location where you were held captive at the time, only, years ago, she moved to another town and it was only two months ago that she returned to the village. She came home because her grandparents left their land there to her."

"Are you sure it's her?"

"The agent I sent did an investigation and all the features matched, she also remembered there was a circus in the village when she was little, before she moved to town."

Forth held his chest and felt a little surprised because he didn't feel anything, even though the news about the person he had been looking for all these years should get his adrenaline racing or at least make him happy.

"Shone, we've had the wrong person several times, so I think you really need to make sure that ahe's the person we've been looking for all this time," Forth said in an even tone.

"Of course, Forth."

Shone studied Forth's face. His best friend always gets excited whenever he or another friend brings good news about the person he's looking for, even though in the end it's a mistake.

This time, however, his face remained even and calm. This change in his attitude, is it because of a young man named Javin, who in the past few months has made Forth look very different?

Shone knew that Forth's heart was very difficult to dive into. He has had a lot of trauma in the past and has etched an image of someone in his heart and brain ever since he felt his life was saved by that person in the past.

Javin's presence definitely made Forth begin to open his heart and himself and that might influence his desire to find someone he considers a savior.

The person who just disappeared from his life after inscribing memories of first love and a very deep impression, was replaced by a young man who made him fall in love at first sight.

"Shone, I'm going back to my parents' house for a few days for my mom's birthday, so I think you better investigate again about the woman you found and we'll take care of it when I get back," Forth said.

Shone nodded and looked towards the house. "You're taking Javin to your parents' house?" he asked.

"Yes. He was very enthusiastic and even asked me to accompany him to buy gifts."

Shone thought for a moment, before working up the courage to ask. "Forth, do you love Javin?"

Forth's eyebrows rose. "Why do you ask?"

"Because you changed after Javin's presence and I think that's really good. Me and the others, as well as your brother, really hoped that you would feel happy with Javin's presence. From the start Phi Rain already had a good feeling about the young man and you know, he was very enthusiastic every time asking us about you and Javin."

"Wait, wait, you mean, Phi Rain has always been watching over me?" asked Forth angrily.

"No, it's not like that. He loves you very much and tries to take care of you all this time. Sometimes he takes the time to stop by or just call to ask how you and Javin are, especially since he was the one who recommended Javin to be your assistant," Shone said hastily correcting.

"Hey, I met Javin not because of the intercession of Phi Rain or you guys," protested Forth. "If he's a gem, I'll find him myself."

"Yes, yes, I know, but if it wasn't Phi Rain's initiative, until now Javin might still be working at the convenience store and you can only be with him when you're eating ramen together," Shone said with a chuckle.

"Damn it," Forth cursed in response while laughing too. "I guess you're right."

"Phi Rain always has feelings of guilt because of that incident, Forth, so he's always worried about you. However, is bringing Javin to your family event later, the right decision? What if there are questions about your relationship with him?"

"Why do they ask that. Everyone knows that I always have a personal assistant," Forth said indifferently.

"But, none of your personal assistants have you ever brought to your family events and your gaze, Forth, your gaze on Javin!"

"Huh?"

"Look in the mirror, mate, with Javin behind it. You'll notice your eyes light up with love when you look at him."

Forth was stunned, then sighed and looked down. "Is it that clear?"

Shone shook his head and chuckled. He got up and patted Forth on the shoulder. "I'll tell you again about that woman."

Shone went up to the second floor and met Javin in Forth's study. The young man was compiling the files requested by Shone.

"Javin, are you done?" asked Shone while patting Javin's shoulder.

"In a minute, Phi. I'll just put this one together."

Shone watched Javin's figure and felt doubts as to whether he should continue investigating the woman Forth had been looking for for years.

"Phi, it's finished," said Javin, handing him the file he had been working on.

Shone took the file from Javin's hand and took the time to pat Javin's shoulder. "You're going with Forth to his house?" he asked.

"Yes, Phi Forth took me to his mother's birthday party," Javin replied cheerfully.

Shone smiled. "Prepare your minds, then."

Javin was stunned.
