"I'm sure whatever route you decide to take, everything will still turn out in your favor," Helmond responded truthfully, having stayed with Incinerate long enough to know how he worked.
Even though Helmond's invisibility powers weren't offensive in any way and were only used to acquire information and most people thought he was merely sponging off one of the top heroes, he simply saw it as a mutual relationship of benefits of some sort.
Incinerate sat quietly as he listened to his friend's words about to order one of his bodyguards to go and carry out the deed when he suddenly heard the sounds of quick footsteps at his door.
Before he could even begin to imagine who it was, the person ceremoniously badged in,
"Let me guess. A little rat ratted me out," Incinerate said the moment he saw that the uninvited person was madam Glow, not at all expecting anyone but one of the seven to have the confidence to badge into his room,
"Yes and a good thing he did. I trust your skills as one of the most powerful heroes in our continent but it would give me great pleasure if you utilized your brain in the same way, Madam glow said, completely ignoring the dark look that fell on his face as she boldly continued speaking.
"I have kept that boy alive using the best medical research we have. You kill the boy and then what? Like the mother dying isn't enough news for the various organizations to go looking for trouble and try to drag us in the mud. We need him alive and moreover without powers how much of a threat can he be to Horati…after he signs a contract of course," Madam Glow gently explained with a fierceness that made everyone want to listen to her, especially since she was more like their manager and her say was usually the final one.
"Okay...I hear you. As long as I am unaffected and my good name is not covered in mud. But... I really dont see the boy's usefulness though. If he does manage to survive, that's all he'll be able to do," Incinerate said, not seeing Glow's seeming obsession with him,
"Well I need him for a publicity stunt against the villain groups if our plan B is going to go smoothly and win us the citizen's approval with the law bill we are trying to pass," Glow replied before turning around to look at the person that was always in Incinerate's shadow whom she couldn't seem to get rid of no matter how much she tried to,
"Helmond, I thought your job was to give good advice. I would think with age came wisdom but in your case, it's most likely the opposite as you were directly ignored by it," she said unable to stop the frown that adorned her face the moment she laid her eyes on him.
"It's nice to see you too, Madam Glow," Helmond replied with a smile as he continued to sip his tea, without taking a single glance at Madam Glow, confident that whatever happened, Incinerate was sure to have his back,
"Shouldn't you get going?" Incinerate suddenly asked, a little impatient to have the matter settled as soon as possible but instead of replying, she merely turned around and headed for the door.
On getting to it, she swung it open but right before she had to walk through it, she took a look back staring directly at Incinerate before speaking.
"Just make sure you don't attack him. If something so much as shakes his room, I'll hold you accountable," she said, slamming the door behind her the moment she was done speaking.
"Are you going to do as she asked?" Helmond asked in his usual tone although it had an edge to it along with a look of annoyance that he couldn't hide on his face.
"Of course, I will," Incinerate replied fully aware that although Glow wasn't even among the top three most powerful people in their circle, they all respected her for how clever and vicious she could be when she put her mind to it.
"For now," Murmuring the latter part under his breath.
*************
He's awake!"
"He is awake,"
Glow consecutively heard a voice yell into her office while she had her head bent over her desk where she had been looking over a few documents that needed her urgent attention.
"He's awake, Ma'am, "The voice repeated, even louder than the first time, making sure that she could no longer be ignored .
Glow sighed, annoyed at being interrupted, but confident in the fact that without her say-so or the necessary authority no one would dare to barge into her office in such a rude manner
Lifting her head, she saw a nurse standing in the doorway of her office space which was "room 1" about four rooms away from where Incinerate stayed, nervously staring at her before going ahead to repeat herself,
"The boy just woke up madam Glow," the average-looking nurse repeated herself wondering why she wasn't getting the urgent response she thought she would get since reporting to her was the first thing they were ordered to do,
"Yes...Yes, Go and make sure he's fine. I'll be down in a minute," Glow replied waving her away, watching her leave just as quickly as she came,
"Well...we might as well get started," Glow thought even as she proceeded to pick up the telephone on her table. Dialing a number as she drummed her well-manicured nails against the table, while patiently waiting for the person on the other end to pick up.
"Hello…," she said the moment the ringing in her ears stopped and the line connected,
"The boy is awake. Meet me in Room 7G with your entire team," she said into the phone, disconnecting with the press of a button the moment she was done.
