"Argo…" Ray called out to him using his mind. Beyond delighted to get an immediate response.
"Show what you can do. Teleportation or a high-end ability is preferable," Ray instructed, with a small smile on his face, as he felt the intense stares of Lord Edet and that of the two other people in the room settle on him.
"I'm unable to do that," was Argo's immediate reply, in a straight and serious tone. Ray, his master, couldn't see him but that didn't stop him from being able to see everyone's reactions.
At that moment he was confident that if his master could have screamed at him, he would.
His eyes widened with shock and absolute disbelief both at the same time.
"WH…what do you mean you can't?" Ray barked at Argo, as he continued having conversations with him in his mind, even as he watched Lord Edet, Vice head of the guide continue to stare at him with an impatient look on his face
Argo's response was to display The death system in front of Ray.

"The kill bar is back to zero. My powers depend on the souls I consume. The teleportation and High-flame ability used up everything I got from killing those two people," Argo patiently explained, watching Ray's face gradually begin to redeem slightly in anger as he tried and failed to calm himself down.
"What the hell is he doing?" said Lord Edet out loud, throwing a look at Walse and Quive, wondering if he was the only one that didn't understand it.
"Maybe he's charging his powers. I'm sure if we give him a second or two he'll show us what he's got," Walse responded with a hidden smirk on his face as he continued to watch the boy stand in the center of the room and do nothing but shake his clenched fists, with his eyes closed.
While Quive simply continued to stand there with a curious expression on his face as he also continued to watch the boy that came for the Recruitment exam into the guide.
"WH…calm down. Why are you just telling me this now?" Ray asked, panicking slightly as he couldn't imagine what would happen if he couldn't show any form of power.
"I'll be banned from all the guides…" Ray thought in horror, having hoped that joining a Hero guide, as much as he loathed them, was the only way for him to earn ridiculous amounts of money that would allow him to get more powerful, and somehow get a power of his own instead of the death system whose power didn't exactly belong to him.
"Why isn't it displayed on the system or something?"Ray went ahead to ask, with Argo instantly replying with the answer he thought was most correct.
"I assume that's the reason why the system made me sentient. That way you could always speak to me and ask me or at least…" Argo responded, and if not for the serious tone that Argo used Ray would have suspected that he was currently being made fun of by his own Minion.
"Fine. At least tell me you can do something?" Ray interrupted, a pleading edge in his voice, especially when he heard Lord Edet finally speak to him after about five minutes of silence had gone by.
"Is there a problem? There's no way you could have come without an ability to Hero guide Z," Lord Edet asked slowly and calmly but even Ray could tell from his voice that his patience was running out.
"Let's not forget the S Class," Walse thought in his mind, not daring to say so out loud even as he stood beside Quive, both standing straight like proper members of their guides.
"No, Lord Edet," was Ray's instant reply, going as far as to bow a little to show the magnitude of respect he felt towards him.
"I'll start now," Ray said out loud while proceeding to yell at Argo in his mind, "Anything, just show the stronger powers you can display at this time," Ray asked him while also mentally pleading with him.
"Alright," Argo replied.
Argo had barely spoken when about five steps in front of Ray appeared a levitating spoon from thin air.
"Interesting.." Lord Edet commended Ray in his head as he continued watching with rapt attention.
Even the smirk on Walse's face had disappeared when he watched Ray materialize an object from thin air.
The spoon levitated for a while, long enough for the wonder of its appearance to begin to fade.
"Argo… Well, do something. You can't tell me that materializing a spoon is all you can do," Ray said to him, his eyebrows creased in anxiety as he also watched the spoon intently, various images flashing in his mind.
"Is the spoon going to separate and turn into five huge rods?"
"Or maybe the metal would suddenly change shape and become a huge all-encompassing fork that could take more than half the space of this room?"
Ray wasn't the only one with these thoughts.
On the upper floors of the guide, where the official members of the guide had their various offices with each of them having a guide screen stuck to the wall.
They had all been going about their business, when at the same time, their corresponding screens came on, with them seeing what seemed to be the Recruitment hall and a boy standing in the middle of it, taking the exam.
"Is that the Vice head?!"
"This is big…This is really big,"
"There's no way that boy is ordinary. He just materialized an object from thin air"
"Oh please, Materialization is common, it's what he can do with the spoon or change the spoon to,"
This conversation continued in the fourth-floor lunch room, where the lowest members of the guide usually gathered for their lunch, but with the food in front of them, all eyes were fixed on the screen on the wall in rapt expectation.
Back in the Recruitment hall, Ray could feel a drop of sweat roll down his armpit as he stood there, seriously panicking when he watched the face of Lord Edet begin to pinch and morph into one of annoyance and anger.
"Anytime from now would be fine," Ray said speaking to Argo, his patience completely spent, knowing that anytime from then he would be thrown out of the guide if nothing changed about the god****saken spoon in front of him.
"Yes, master. I just finished accumulating all the powers I have left," Ray sighed with satisfaction the second he heard Argo's response.
"Release it," He ordered with more confidence than before. "No matter how little it is, Argo's powers should be enough to cause a small boom considering that it's related to the powers of Death," Ray thought, feeling a sense of massive relief when he slowly watched something change in front of him.
The spoon floating in front of him continued to do so when a small ember of fire appeared beside it, one that slowly but steadily began to expand.
"Okay…maybe he's just not used to his powers yet," Lord Edet thought, not wanting to demean what could possibly become of one the great superpowers in their city in the future as he continued to pay attention to the rapidly expanding fire in front of him.
"Was I wrong?" Walse looked at the boy in front of him with a small frown on his face.
"Oooohhh… That fire is bound to get extremely big…"
"It's not bad but what does he intend to do with it? First, he shows a spoon, and next is fire, does that mean he can materialize and he also has a high ability of fire? His qualifications are still too low,"
"You're right he took too long for him to do both. His rank must be extremely low," another commented as each of them continued to talk to each other while eating in the lunchroom only to collectively gasp at something they saw on the screen.
"Wh…what?"
"It can't be,"
And different other sounds of shock echoed across the room.
Back in the recruitment room, a smile slowly appeared on Ray's face as he watched the flame continue to grow, covering the spoon entirely and melting it, but that was until a loud and sudden popping sound echoed in the room.
The flame fizzled out in seconds, leaving a half-melted spoon barely floating in the air, as it dropped a few inches, and stabilized before dropping again until it hit the ground.
The silence was deafening for Ray. It was a constant pressure that increased by the second as he saw the three stares directed towards him, especially that of Lord Edet.
His expression quickly changed from a largely confused one to one that showed that he was beyond pissed off.
"What is this?" He yelled only to suddenly pause his eyes firmly on Ray before he began speaking again in a softer tone.
"Try again…I'll wait," Lord Edet said, doing his best to calm down.
"I refuse to make a mistake that would cause the Hero guide X, (S class) to get an amazing member because I wasn't patient enough," he thought, folding his arm together in front of him like a child and lightly tapping his feet to reign in his exploding emotions.
Meanwhile, Ray was already having an inner monologue with Argo.
"What happened? It was going so well when…"
"My powers, I have no soul energy to sustain them," Argo responded in a sincere tone bowing his head as he spoke allowing Ray to see that he was truly sorry for his incompetence.
"Then you should have used your own," Ray was about to respond when he suddenly heard Lord Edet speak to him asking him to try again.
Of course, Argo also heard what Ray heard.
"Fine, you can just try…"
"I can't try again. I have exhausted everything," Argo declared with a pained expression on his face since he truly had expended everything he could. Apart from the natural abilities his body came with, he could not materialize any form of ability.
"Hey…did you hear me? Try again. RIGHT NOW," Lord Edet yelled, transforming in seconds from the amiable calm man with a mass of white long hair in his head reaching his neck into an angry old man.
"I apologize Lord Edet but I can't try again right now…," Ray quickly responded, knowing that pretending like he could would only prolong his punishment.
"But by tomorrow, I assure…"
"THROW HIM OUT! Blacklist him from ever entering through the White area," Lord Edet instantly ordered before turning around and walking out his quick steps. The anger he felt was etched into every muscle on his face, especially when he called that he had allowed Walse to switch on the recording equipment which allowed everyone in the guide to watch the live recording of what he assumed would change the future of the guide only for it to turn out to be a joke as he the Vice-head of the guide stood there like a clown.
"There's nothing more I can do to someone as weak as him but this guide isn't big enough for me and Walse. Did he forget that I know he has the"Analyze" ability?," Lord Edet thought as he stormed off, already thinking of ways to get back at him for daring to waste his time.
