Deadshot woke up in his uniform. He stood up and looked around the room he had been in so many times before and frowned.
Just as he was thinking something, the others started waking too.
"I got the hangover, but I don't recall the party," Captain Boomerang said to himself
"Oh crap! Not this again!"
Captain Boomerang looked around and noticed Deadshot
"You too? It's like a bloody recurring nightmare."
Deadshot nodded at Boomerang. Even if the two didn't get along that well, they had been working together on these missions for months.
"Looks like we got rookies," Deadshot said noticing the other people in the room.
He could recognize most of them, they ran in similar circles after all or were famous in their own right.
The woman with icy-blue hair and blocks of metal around her hand was Killer Frost, a metahuman with ice powers. Then there was the man that looked like an alligator, Killer Croc. KGBeast was a large Russian with only one hand while the other was a cybernetic gun. There was also the black man that was wearing a ninja suit, Black Spider.
The last person that Deadshot recognized was Ravager. He had a competition going on with Deathstroke and was always losing. So as he tried to figure out a way to get an advantage over the merc, he dug up all the info he could on him. The dead and the living members of his family.
'What's she doing here? And who's the guy in red? They seem to be the only ones armed here.'
Several questions and scenarios ran through Deadshot's head. He ignored Killer Croc trying to eat Killer Frost and the complaints that the other newbies were asking. At least until KGBeast ran up to the giant metal doors and punched them with his good hand.
"Everybody, shut up. I've been here before."
"Quiet, tiny man," KGBeast ignored Deadshot once again. "I'm leaving."
Just as he was about to continue acting up, the doors opened and Amanda Waller walked through them. KGBeast backed away and joined the other convicts.
"Sit down!"
Harley was the first to sit down like a child. Most of the others did too. All except for the assassin group: Ravager, Red Hood, Deadshot, and Black Spider. Their training made them lean on the walls so they could react to anything.
"I'm Amanda Waller. I'm here to indoctrinate you, convicts, into our special forces."
"Pass," Killer Frost interrupted
"I killed to keep degenerates off the streets," Black Spider was also reluctant. "I won't work alongside them."
"Fresh air and time off my sentence?" Boomerang was more than happy to play by Waller's rules. "Feel free to keep calling me up, love."
"Task Force X is an off-the-books government strike team made up of convicts with no hope for release serving as expendable agents for impossible missions. Succeed and I'll shave time off your sentences."
"And if we fail?" asked Killer Croc
"Then you die. Any other stupid questions?"
"Yeah. What's going on with our necks? They look and feel different than usual," Deadshot pointed out
"That's cause I have a new supplier for neck bombs. One of the old convicts figured out how to get rid of the old ones so I needed to make arrangements for this mission. To make sure you don't try anything funny. Anyone else?"
"You lie," KGBeast declared
"Try me."
And so KGBeast did. He walked past Waller and through the giant metal door that she had come in through. The second one of his feet crossed the threshold, everyone heard a beeping that came from his neck. And a moment later, the man's neck was missing.
"Anyone else?"
"Last question, Waller. Why is Deathstroke's kid and a random here?"
Waller looked at the pair and chuckled
"These are young offenders that have begun walking down the wrong path. Too dangerous for juvie and too young to be put in here with you monsters, we decided on a special scared straight program.
They are assigned 3 missions. Once they complete those, they get to go back to their normal life. With a few parole officers watching over them of course. So be sure to be good role models for them."
"Damn. So not only are we expendable pawns but we're also babysitters? This job is looking worse and worse Waller."
"Quiet, Steve Irwin. Just cause we are young, doesn't mean you should underestimate us."
"Don't get all uppity just cause of your daddy's reputation, kid. He can't protect you in here."
Ravager took Jason's Kyubi off his back before pointing it at the unarmed and very loud man wearing all blue.
"I'm one of the only 3 people in this room with a gun. So I suggest you keep quiet, at least until you get your toys."
Captain Boomerang held up both of his hands and decided to keep quiet like she said. Waller wouldn't care if they lost a member or two before the mission began if it would get rid of the infighting before the mission actually began.
Waller looked at the scene and smiled. She loved when criminals were afraid of her.
"So what's the mission, Waller? One so dangerous that you're sending in newbies."
"Simple. You're breaking into Arkham Asylum."
"That's insane. Don't want much?
"Screw that. I don't do freaky-deakies."
"Yahtzee!"
"A few weeks ago, while in my employ, a lowlife calling himself the Riddler managed to gain access to my computer system. He downloaded a file containing the identities and histories of every current, past, and potential member of the suicide squad."
Waller then went on to explain the importance of the mission and how she would be very pissed if they failed. Also how they would be dead if they failed as well. She also told them the rules. And when she was done, gas filled the room and knocked everyone except for Waller and the kids unconscious
"Keep quiet, low body count, rubber bullets. You really think they will follow those rules?" Rose asked Waller
"Nope. But I gotta at least tell them that. Make sure you watch your backs. These guys might end up killing you if you're not careful."
