What was supposed to be an engagement party turned out to be a wedding for the couple in Japan before they returned to the girl's hometown for another wedding. You could say it was their traditional wedding . . . whatever it was, it was quite surprising for Haruki who had expected it to be a simple party and all but it turned out to be a lot more formal than he thought it would be.
Haruki glanced at his wristwatch, they had just arrived at the temple's entrance and they were two minutes late. As someone who hates being late for any occasion, Haruki could not stop glancing at his wristwatch.
He could only try to be less than five minutes late to the venue since he was already late and he had no intention of running. It would be even more chaotic to have his guards running along with him and since the brother of the groom was not showing any sign of impatience, he tried to calm himself down.
He glanced at Hiroshi who was looking at him with eyes that seemed to sparkle. When he met the gaze of the man's light brown eyes, the man smiled at him showing a bit of his dimples. Haruki wanted to look away but as someone who appreciates beauty, this man was a gorgeous being.
But as much as he liked anything beautiful, he did not want anyone staring at him in a way that reminded him of the gorgeous appearance he had that those years of training under Ren did not change.
"Stop staring," he was forced to say when his cold gaze did not stop the man from staring at him shamelessly. It was as though the man was trying so hard to hold back from telling how much he found him beautiful.
"You . . ." Haruki watched the man part his lips and begin but that only made his gaze colder as he was almost certain at that point that he would not mind having his face on the next breaking news as a murderer of an innocent doctor on the morning of his younger brother's wedding.
Haruki's lips pressed together to form a thin line as he continued forward accelerating until he was walking ahead of the doctor. The only beauty he hated and yet could not destroy was his. The number of times he had gotten injured on his face but he never seemed to retain scars or perhaps those injuries were not deep enough.
"You seem so impatient, I can assure you that even today, Aki will be late," Haruki heard the doctor call from behind him as he continued further now wearing a blank expression.
Haruki bit the inside of his lower lips without answering the man. His principles were what mattered most regardless of what the other party did. He hated being tardy and that was something he had no intention of changing simply because he thought Aki would be late to his wedding.
Anyway, the doctor was wrong because Aki was waiting impatiently for them and he seemed to be under even more pressure on his wedding morning. Haruki briefly greeted Aki before heading inside. They were late as it appeared that even the monks seemed to be waiting for them.
From what Haruki later heard, Aki had refused to go on with the wedding without his brother. He had been very worried since he had been trying to get to his brother since they woke up. Haruki did not understand what was going on, it was even better he didn't know what was happening between the brothers, it was best to ignorant of the fact that he was Aki's first love.
The ceremony began and it ended pretty soon. It was as though no one had any intention of spending a second more in the temple than they had intended to.
Haruki watched everything happen and got to understand that the wedding in the temple was meant for close relatives and even most of Aki's friends from overseas would only attend the party afterward, they were not in the temple for the wedding.
The more he thought of it, the more he felt Hiroshi was cunning enough to bring him to attend a family-only party with him by his side. They arrived together as Hiroshi had requested to drive one of Haruki's jeeps.
He had followed Hiroshi's lead and found himself getting happy smiles from Dr. Yamamoto who was both pleased and surprised to see him present. The man must think Haruki considers him more than a simple employee but a family.
He felt fooled but thinking about everything that happened from the moment he woke up to the moment he arrived at the temple, Hiroshi had not bothered to manipulate him in any way he had simply let his guard down completely he calculated and worked with the man's time, plan and schedule.
It was dangerous yet he could not help but move his gaze to the man who had effortlessly made him trust in him to such a crazy extent. The man met his gaze and smiled brightly. He found it laughable when he discovered that despite the thoughts he had, he had returned the man's smile.
He moved his gaze away to the couple and Aki had met his gaze shortly before moving his gaze to his wife. He also considered Aki guilty of sending him a family-only invitation to him. It seems he has to grow weary of the Yamamoto's sons.
The ceremony was over and with Haruki present as an esteemed guest, Yamamoto led the way to his car despite how many times Haruki repeated that it was not necessary.
Haruki missed how many times Aki had focused his gaze on Haruki. He missed the longing for his childhood friend or his reaction would have been to find an excuse to leave the venue for the best. Aki had tried to drag him to take pictures along with everybody else but Haruki refused by reminding him he had to take pictures with his family.
Yamamoto's family have been in collaboration with his family for so long even under very strict anti-yakuza laws but they got what they wanted at the end of the day.
Everyone considered his family's business a legal long before his grandfather died and with many international deals that impacted the economy positively, they had no reason to think otherwise which meant the hospital the Yamamoto family earned from being by their side, was meant to stay for decades, that was a good enough reward.
Haruki had no reason to appear in their album of family pictures. He noticed the disappointment in Aki's face but when he noticed something similar in the doctor's eyes, he ended up reassuring Aki that he would take pictures with him during the engagement party.
