Chapter 10: Trapped

Monday, May 7th, 8:55 PM

A cool summer breeze wisped by Mako's position as he leaned against the exterior wall near the entrance to the ship's theater as Elise had requested. He glanced at his designer watch every half-minute, hoping enough time had passed.

Mako crossed his arms and planted his right heel on the wall. A handful of guests walked about near his area and drew his attention. The minutes ticked by, and Elise still hadn't shown herself. The dreadful thought of harm coming to her raked against Mako's skin, causing it to crawl with a chill. A lump formed at the back of his throat despite him trying to swallow it away.

Then, as he started to become anxious, Elise appeared to his right from the balcony of the ship. Mako immediately focused his attention on her. He stepped away from the wall and gave her a grin.

"You're three minutes late," he said in a joking manner.

"Yes," Elise said. "That seems to be a common theme today."

Her smile warmed him.
