Chapter 32: Someone's in the Vents

Finished with his meal in the glamorous dining hall of the cruise ship, Mako stood from the table and set his napkin over his clean plate. The excellent steak and half-bottle of wine made him weary, and nothing sounded better than the comfort of his bed in his hidden room where he wouldn't have to worry about looking over his shoulder.

Mako quietly made his way toward the exit after tipping his waiter. He pushed open the doors to the balcony where he could gain his bearings. The moon's dim light shimmered across the rolling surface of the ocean. Mako grinned at the serenity. Something about the peaceful connection between the water and sky soothed him.

'All right,' he thought. 'I'd better head back to my room for the night. The casino floor will empty in a few hours. I don't want to be around for that.'
