31. The mission

I swallow hard, making Bogan look at me even more penetratingly. It's as if he suspected this but wasn't sure until now. I had given myself away by my reaction, and he knows it. "How did you know?" I ask him, with his face now very close to mine. He turns the computer screen toward me that is next to me. I look at the screen and see a picture of me on it, with pictures and info next to it. There's everything I wanted to hide right here in a big way. "You have no secrets Cleo, you see it here, I can see everything. Like your marriage to Xandros, our most wanted vampire. I don't know if it's smart to trust you, but we don't have another chance." When Bogan is finished speaking, I take one last look at the screen before he turns it away. What struck me was that there's nothing mentioned me being a vampire, only something about Xandros having broken the rules by betraying and killing without permission. So I'm still at an advantage with their ignorance of my state. I hardly if ever have to feed myself, which makes it get easier to live here among all these people. Hopefully now he will give me permission to leave the house alone. It's hard for me to go looking for this secret mission when I see Verona watching my fingers all the time. I may have to go more to those clubs undercover for info from the vampires, something Waylon has probably tried, but Waylon is a man and doesn't have the techniques as a woman has.

Indeed, that night I got the green light to go out alone. Verona still tried to convince me to take her with me, but I couldn't do it. This was something I had to do alone. Heading to the same alley where Xandros took us the first time and knock on the same door. I say the familiar password which turns out to be still the same. Anthony sees me enter and comes directly my way, "long time no see beauty. Xandros was here yesterday, though he seemed a bit absentminded and uninterested. Strange, why does Xandros react so intensely to my flight from him. Sure Cleo, his blood bank is gone, though I know well enough that our bond is more than just that. "I'm looking for someone," I say, thinking with my hand over my chin. "Who are you looking for?" Asks Anthony integrated, for whom I am looking and why. All these vampires are terribly curious, which could well jeopardize my mission.

"Is there a vampire here who knows more about Irantus?" I ask him, looking around the room filled with all vampires. "Beauty, other than you, Xandros and Remus, no one has been there. No one comes back here once they get there." The reason I can think of. Though I didn't have a chance myself, after they banished me for something Xandros had done. "They have an airport in Boston," I hear a man answer from the bar, turning to face me. I look into the man's eyes, which are an unnatural green, yellow color. It looks like fluorescent yellow and green, so bright are his eyes. Not much later, I'm sitting with this vampire with his bright eyes and handsome, sturdy looks, which becomes apparent when he puts his arm around me. He has long brown hair that hangs down his back with a stretch and a rather grim look, which shows he wants more from me than talk. "Come closer I'll take all your worries away," the same vampire says still in that grim voice, but now more forcibly. "Do you happen to know where in Bosten?" I ask him, as I take hold of his arm. I have to nudge him a bit, because otherwise he wouldn't let out a word. "No, but maybe after some drinks he will," he says with a smile, making me notice his teeth already sticking out sharply from his mouth. Panic takes over me, but soon I'm distracted by two new vampires entering the club. Two that I recognize from somewhere, but can't make out from where. They set themselves down a little further from me and the man at the bar. I continue to watch them, with the man at the bar still panting on my neck. "You know these guys?" I ask him as II point to the two men to our right most. "Morik and Frits," the man says with an underlying growl, clearly not happy to see them here. "You don't like them?" I ask him as I rub his arm toward his chest. "No, they're pawns. Pawns of that stupid council that decides whether you can go or have to stay here," He looks at me glassily." He doesn't even realize he's talking to me. How could they, we are humans and have no knowledge of the vampires on Irantus. That's what I'm trying to tell him, anyway.

Pawns of the Council. This could get interesting, though. Outside of Bois, I'm not getting anywhere with this guy. He has already helped me well, but these pawns of the council will help me even more. I waddle in their direction, extra shaking my rump to get bun's attention. They look at me not much later with a hungry gaze. One takes my hips as the other puts his teeth in my neck skin. Shit, this was not the plan at all. All luck I didn't fall through, but do know that I'll have to drink first myself later to get back to the club. Biting someone there would definitely be the stupidest idea.

Something in the man snaps, and he begins to tremble. In shock, I look at him, trembling on the ground. Then his friend comes over to me, causing me to react innocently shocked with my hands in front of my mouth. My action works as he takes care of his friend and carries him out of the club. Is this because of me? What am I? And why can Xandros drink from me? So many questions and can't go anywhere with my questions, maybe somewhere, Waylon.
