Her mother took a deep breath and slowly nodded; her eyes now misty. "I hope he makes you happy. I don't want you to marry that boy, I don't like him and everything that he represents but we don't have any choice."

"Papa told me what he said about making my pregnancy known to everyone if I don't marry him."

"That is what you get when you play with lice-infested dogs, you end up getting the lice on yourself." Her mother took a deep breath looking around her room. "He will be here tomorrow and we will pick a date for the wedding."

Gemma nodded. "Papa said so."

Her mother didn't say another word as she turned around and left the bedroom. 

For the rest of the day, Gemma didn't leave her bedroom, she stayed in bed all through. Later that evening Elena came to see her. 

"Being moody isn't going to change anything, try and cheer up," Elena said.

"Hmm, you won't believe what happened today," Gemma said. 

"What happened?"
