Making A Mistake

Gemma tossed and turned on the bed, and out of what had become a habit she reached for Miguel but she was greeted with a cold empty space.

She slowly opened her eyes and saw his side of the bed was empty.

The low humming sound from the air conditioner filled the otherwise quiet room. She sighed as she turned to face the floor-to-ceiling window. It was still very much dark outside, she glanced at the alarm clock on Miguel's nightstand, it read; 3:30 am. She wondered what he was doing out of bed by that time of the night.

For the past few weeks, she has been sleeping in his bed as he won't allow her to sleep in her bedroom. Now, she was beginning to wonder if there was any need of sleeping in his bed anymore, as it was the fourth time in a row that she was waking up in the middle of the night to find Miguel gone.

Gemma tapped her fingers on the bed, trying not to read meaning into his action.
