Lucky Strike

A black Divine Core? He stared at his Divine Core strangely, he had never for once heard nor read anything about a divine core being black, all Divine cores were brownish, it was the normal and widely known color for Divine cores.

His mind swirled as he thought of different possibilities, as the saying went haste makes waste, he began to ponder and regret his decision to awaken his divine soul beforehand, unaware of the unusual phenomenon that took place because of his Divine Soul, he stared fixedly at Elder One who sat cross-legged a few meter away from him in deep meditation.

He came out from the soul pond and sat facing Elder One waiting patiently, the runic barrier covered the soul pond again.

"Hmm... Are you mesmerized by my old handsome face, don't be stunned! Back in my younger days, my handsomeness eclipsed all men and many girls chased after me, married female cultivators were no exception, they flocked around me from all sides and I became the enemy of all men. Life was hard then, I couldn't escape from them. Sigh!"

Ye Mo's mouth twitched as he looked at the Elder one proud and smiling face, he felt like punching him. After creating some distance between them, he asked impatiently, "What was it you wanted to talk about? My divine core is black, any reason for that?"

Startled Elder One blurted out in shock and puzzlement, "Black?!"

Seeing the strange expression on Elder One face, a sense of foreboding arose in his heart, "Yes black, is there a problem?"

"Black?" inquired Elder One skeptically, "Okay, let me have a look."

"Strange! It's really black." Elder One muttered to himself.

"What's wrong with my Divine Core?" Ye Mo asked nervously.

"Well.. what can I say? I just checked, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your Divine Core, in fact the density of spiritual energy in your Divine Core is the highest I have seen in my long life, but I have never seen nor heard about a black divine core."

Thinking for a while, "I think I remembered coming across an old scroll where it was written that the appearance of a black divine core foretells the beginning of a deviant path."

"What ancient scroll again? What deviant path? Think harder." Ye Mo implored.

"Well, I don't know, even the scroll said it was merely a speculation and it wasn't explained in full detail, it was probably written by an useless old man out of boredom and drunkenness."

Ye Mo looked at Elder One with a strange expression on his face.

"What? Cough- cough. It wasn't me. Wait! Did you seriously take me for a useless old man?" Elder one inquired angrily; his eyes almost spitting fire.

"You never said it, you said it yourself." Ye Mo replied with an innocent expression on his face.

Elder One choked on the words he was about to say. Glaring at him for a while, he continued the topic. "It's simple, the so-called deviant path, is a path that doffer from the normal, it is a lonely, dangerous and unknown path that fails to follow common knowledge."

"How can you be so sure when you haven't encounter or heard of any cultivator with a black divine core?"

"Well, since your divine core did not follow nor conform to the common knowledge, it has every reason to be called a 'deviant divine core' Elder One retorted.

Ignoring his antics, Ye Mo asked, "Is there any side effect or repercussion of a black core?"

Elder One looked at him strangely, "How would I know? You have to explore it yourself."

Ye Mo heaved a tired sigh, he had just breached an hurdle, when he was met with a complicated task, he had a feeling that his days were going to be harder and complicated.

"I almost digressed from the main issue, your Divine Soul."

"Is there anything wrong with my Divine Soul?" Ye Mo asked tentatively.

"Yes and no, allow me to die before you buy me, o-kay."

"The first Divine Soul you awakened is the Dao Cleaving Immortal Sword which is an Immortal Grade Divine Soul, wipe that smirk off your face! With an Immortal Grade Divine Soul, your future path has been set, unless untimely death, you will reach the highest pinnacle of cultivation, your cultivation speed will be very fast, you will breakthrough with lightning speed, but there will be dangers ahead, some evil forces will try to wipe you out at this your tender age when they discover that you have an Immortal Grade Divine Soul. You have to be very careful. You can be considered a rare genius now."

"Do I have another divine soul? What do you mean by the word considered? I have always been a rare and one-in-a- millennium genius. What are those forces?"

"They aren't something you can talk about now, but try keeping a low profile." Elder One warned brushing off the other questions.

"Okay! I've heard old man. What about my second divine soul?"

"Well... That's a little special and tricky, your second divine soul is the dark moon you saw before you lost consciousness in the Divine Soul World. The Dark Origin. The Dark Origin is a Primordial Grade Divine Soul."

"What! A Primordial Grade Divine Soul!" Ye Mo exclaimed. Earlier when the system explained the grades of Divine Souls he knew from the seriousness of the system that the grades of Divine Souls mattered a lot. And the system had clearly stated that a Primordial Grade Divine Soul has not appeared in millennials, Ye Mo could judge from the way the other Divine Souls scampered into safety that the monstrousness of a Primordial Grade Divine Soul wasn't something that could be imagined. In the system words, a cultivator with a Primordial Grade Divine Soul need not bother about cultivating, as his body will continually absorb spiritual energy that will enable them to advance more quickly than others.

The difference between a Primordial Grade Divine Soul and an Immortal Grade Divine Soul was as high as the heaven and earth. Ye Mo was drunk in happiness, the blissful life he imagined slowly took shape before his eyes, an Immortal and a Primordial Grade Divine Soul, he couldn't ask for more.

"But_ Although it's a good thing, you absolutely cannot expose the fact that you have a Primordial Grade Divine Soul, even at death's door, do not expose your Primordial Grade Divine Soul or else, you will be hunted by all forces. The world will turn against you. Your Divine Souls are to be kept a secret." Elder One cautioned sternly.

Ye Mo nodded his head solemnly, thankfully he had always been one that avoided the limelight. A tree that stood tall in the forest would be cut down first.

"You really surprised me. A puny and arrogant brat like you having a Primordial Grade Divine Soul was the last thing I thought of. Cultivate harder, don't get cocky because of your Divine Souls." Elder One admonished.

"Okay, I won't Old man." Ye Mo nodded his head in acknowledgement.

"Good, but I must say, it's like your fate already tailored a path for you, a deviant path." with a indiscernible expression Elder One stared at Ye Mo intently.

"What do you mean?" Ye Mo asked not understanding.

"You have a dark Divine Core, a dark Immortal Sword and a dark moon, your affinity with darkness, I must say exceeds my understanding, did you commit bad deeds in your previous life?" Elder One asked amused.

"Of course not, I was a saint in my previous life and I never liked black color too." Ye Mo retorted sharply.

"Okay! Enough, since your luck has been pretty good today, why don't you go for your lucky strike before it runs out." Elder One reminded with a teasing smile on his face.

Slapping his head, Ye Mo hurried to the Chaotic River, he was a lot calmer than before, with his divine souls, his confidence boosted, he held the iron sword in his right hand, Spiritual energy surged through his branch and main meridians as the black core released streams of pure spiritual energy, the sword in his hand glowed with a dim light.

With a loud cry, he struck forcefully and there was stillness, his gaze burned, his breathing turned a little heavy.

A loud crash was heard, as luck shined on him again, more than ten cultivation resources shot out from the river; seven bottles of different pills, a bracelet and two scrolls. Looking at the pile of resources on the ground, Ye Mo smile outshone the brilliance of the sun, he could pray that his luck would remain the same the next day for the next lucky strike.

Packing the resources, he placed them in the shelf designed by the system, their details and price appeared on the shelf, they were in low grade spirit stones, opening the store, Ye Mo breathed in the "fresh" air happily, an old man almost ram into him, he quickly shifted to the side and look at the old man warily.

"Haha, young lad, I've been hanging around for days, I came to thank you for the last time, my brother would have died if not for that pill."

"Oh! It's nothing, no need to be polite." Ye Mo replied after remembering the old man face, his first customer ever.

"Do you have any goods today?" the old man asked in a low voice.

"Old man, you are lucky today, I just got a batch of goods not quite long." Ye Mo smiled brightly, his eyes became passionate and gentle as he gazed at the Old man as if he was a truck of experience points.
