Asking a boy out

Clarisse paced around at a corner of the locker room, she was breathing nervously while waiting for Abraham; the guy she has a crush on. She had been trying for the past few weeks to make him notice her but he didn't seem to even see her; her suppressed feelings were depressing her on the inside and so she decided to take a bold step today and open up to him.

She was going to tell him how she felt about him and ask him to be her boyfriend. This was her second year in college and she was still 19. Well, she had begun school really early because of how smart she was at a young age.

Clarisse had been single her whole life; not because boys weren't seeing her, but she was always turning them down. She knew she was different and they would not only see her as weird if they found out the truth about her but they would also be scared of her. So she decided to not get involved in any relationship.

However, her thoughts regarding having a boyfriend began to change the first time she set her eyes on Abraham, he was a science nerd and maybe it was his glasses that attracted her to him. Clarisse developed a liking for him and seeing him in class everyday deepened the feelings she had for him, now she couldn't keep it to herself anymore.

He was always on her mind and she had been barely able to concentrate these days, so she decided to finally open up to him after one long year. She knew it wasn't ethical for a girl to ask a boy out but she was going to do it anyway; she hoped it went the way she expected it or she didn't know how she would react.

After waiting for almost thirty minutes, she finally saw him walking down the hallway. She knew he was heading to his locker to take books for the next class. They were still having the second class when she excused herself and came here to wait ahead of time for him.

Clarisse didn't mind breaking a few rules to get what she wanted, she was madly in love with this human boy and she couldn't understand why. Was this just infatuation? Maybe because he was handsome and nerdy? Or probably because he was quiet most of the time and she was usually attracted to quiet guys.

Well, she was loquacious and so she needed someone that would always listen to her and never get tired. If she found someone who also talks a lot, then she doubted the relationship would work out as he would have just as much to say as her.

Clarisse took a deep breath when she noticed he was close; he arrived at his locker and began to open it. Clarisse walked to him immediately but stopped right behind him; this was the part where she was supposed to call his name and then say her mind, but she froze; she suddenly lost her courage.

She stood there contemplating on if to do it or not, other students were now walking out to the hallway and she knew she needed to get this done fast before they draw attention.

Clarisse raised her hand to tap on his shoulder from behind as words wouldn't leave her mind but she froze halfway in hesitance. She left the arm hanging in the air while debating within herself if to do it or just turn around and walk away.

She was still battling between those thoughts when Abraham closed the locker door and turned around to face her. Abraham was surprised to see her standing in front of him with her hand still hanging in the air.

Clarisse laughed nervously and slowly brought down her arm in an awkward manner. "Um… Hi," the word escaped her mouth unknowingly.

"Hi?" Abraham muttered in confusion.

She smiled awkwardly and looked down. They were both silently standing there with him staring at her in confusion. He had no idea what she was doing and she wouldn't even look him in the eyes.

"Um… do you want something?" Abraham finally asked to break the silence.

He was 6.2ft tall with beautiful green eyes, blonde curly hair and a pointed nose. He always had glasses on him and most of their classmates called him four eyes because of that.

"Oh… Um, no… I mean yeah…" Clarisse fumbled as she rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly.

"Um… okay? How may… how may I help you?" Abraham asked softly.

Clarisse scratched her head and looked around to see if people were watching them, she didn't know how to begin. "Um… I just wanted to… I wanted to…" she stuttered, trying to summon courage to say the words. She wasn't usually this shy and nervous; it was just around Abraham and maybe it was due to her feelings for him.

"Go on, feel free to ask me for anything, I will be willing to help in any way that I can," Abraham urged as he was slowly running out of patience; well, he had another class to prepare for and the lecturer would be there in ten minutes.

Clarisse paused and closed her eyes, then she took a deep breath and let it out. "Abraham, I have known you since our first year in college and ever since the day I saw you, I… I sort of… I don't know… I… I like you!!" she finally blurted out; well, Garrick wasn't the only one who didn't know how to express his feelings, it seems like he passed it on to his daughter.

"What?" Abraham muttered with furrowed eyebrows, confusion written all over his face.

Clarisse knew she had said it already, so now it was too late to draw back, she needed to express her feeling clearly or she would make herself look dumb before him.

"Yes Abram, I have wanted to say this to you for so long now but I just didn't know how to do so. I like you Abraham, like… like-like you, I mean love you… I thought I would let you know and also ask if you might want to go out with me some time soon, I mean anytime you feel like, or soon if you prefer," she blabbered, unable to stop the words from awkwardly escaping her lips.

Abraham stared at her with confusion written all over his face, he rubbed his temple and then he moved away from her a bit backwards. "Um, I… I am really sorry but I don't think so," he replied and then he walked away in a hurry without looking back.

Clarisse felt pain strike her chest that very moment and she froze. She felt rage begin to fill her being, she clenched her fist and her eyes glowed bright blue for a few seconds before it went back dim, her fangs were itching as she found the urge to let it out.

The half vampire could feel her blood boiling, her senses enhanced as she could hear every little sound in the hallway. She noticed two girls staring and laughing at her from a corner; they must have overheard her conversation with Abraham and it made her mad.

The girls had no idea that she could hear them as they had moved away from the spot where it happened. Clarisse swallowed hard and took a deep breath, she resisted the urge to go over there and rip their feminine gullets out of their throats.

She turned around and walked out of the school with tears rolling down her eyes. She was going to make them all regret, they shouldn't have messed with Clarisse Verne; the daughter and only child of Garrick Verne.
