I froze after hearing what she said. She smiled and took a sip from her champagne. If I wasn't aware of the fact that I was constantly being watched by many people, I would leave her there and run.
"I don't understand," I tried to smile.
"Well, Lara," she started and looked around for a while. She nodded at a man and looked at me again.
"Aiden has a tendency to take things very seriously. And I guess that caused the result I see tonight." She was unreadable. But I was sure she didn't mean anything good by it.
"The result that you have to bear?" I asked, allowing her the space to admit that I was someone she had to bear.
"Not at all," she leaned her head to the side. "Everything is a result of a cause and they're not necessarily bad."
I could tell she had been through much. She seemed to be a wise, observant and calculated person. As if she had to be in order to survive.
I took a sip from the drink Aiden put in my hand a while ago. I had forgotten that it was there.
