A New Dawn (4)

You ever play one of those city building games and think to yourself 'who the hell enjoys doing this all the time, and why the fuck do I fall into the category?'

Well, that was what I was thinking as I alternated my gaze between the snow laden land in front of me and the parchment in my hands, the various miners around me dragging the boulders and pushing some wheelbarrows of dirt to where I was pointing, assembling the materials I needed where I needed them.

There was something about turning a bunch of nothing into a beautiful, useful something that was addicting to the brain, and despite it being an arduous process that usually made you curse the world and hate that you have very selective OCD, you actually loved doing it because it was a sign of the work and effort you put into something given physical form...

That was what I was feeling now as I began construction on the second portion of the wall that would be raised around Dawnstar, protecting it from the harsh winds by breaking them slightly whilst also keeping out the bears, wolves, giants and bandits that might be in the area.

Madena - when we weren't engaged in baby making sex - taught me some more practical elemental magic, and the one that I asked for specifically was Earth Magic, which I was using to take the preexisting rock and dirt and turn it into an actual structure, especially when I used my Water Magic to create a clay to bind the materials together, which I then heated with my Fire Magic...

What would take these people multiple days at the very least to do by hand - some sparse uses of magic, some good ol physical labor, and of course this world's weird building mechanics - was being done in mere hours as I erected a wall around the city, before I began to move towards the next step of our plans, and one that would require a bit more understanding; creating the farms.

Madena and I had come up with an idea to mix a few separate Rune spells and fuel them with Soul Gems to create a pseudo environment within greenhouses for the growth of grain and vegetables, and I had the idea - and the hope - to utilize fish farms as well to fertilize the earth, which would require a lot more testing and research.

The mage was only further impressed and smitten by me as I suggested more things for this city, using my knowledge from my last life to introduce ideas they hadn't seen before so that I could make this city into something great.

The more I did for Dawnstar, the more it would do for me in the future when it raked in money, and when I was able to get the port up and running, I could access the markets of Windhelm AND Solitude, selling to both sides of the war...

Then, if I could get an agreement from Balgruuf, I could connect Falkreath to Dawnstar and ship food, materials, and other things from the south to the north and vice versa, and if I could produce a large quantity of things, then even the prosperous Whiterun Hold would want a cut of my goods, forcing Balgruuf to accept so long as he received pay.

If I was successful and I played my cards right, I could have the entire middle of Skyrim beneath my thumb, and if I wanted to spread my fingers into the other Holds, they would be easy to access with the wealth and influence I would indirectly wield thanks to each of my own Holds.

Then I could begin to create an 'alliance' of Holds that would act as a shield around my future home - Helgen - to further entrench myself into the world, but that would come much later.

For now, I worked on making Dawnstar a proper Hold as I gave it a boost in its defenses and a boost in its food production, earning more of the people's adoration and further impressing the new Jarl as well as the Court Mage.

With the sudden change in leadership and the city going from one of stagnation to one of improvement and change, most of its people were more than willing to be of aid to me as I continued to work to improve their lives, and the days began to pass by in comfortable bliss as I built and built, studied and researched, practiced and fucked...

The 'city' that had once been merely a fishing village with two lucky mines was slowly turning into a proper city, and being able to watch that change happen in real time and knowing that I was the catalyst for this change made it all the sweeter as each day passed, and I noticed that the sex was getting better too as the people gave me their thanks each night.

Brina and I were going at it constantly, while Madena pulled me aside constantly as well, and the random citizens would stop by my room to ask for some time with me before falling into my bed, taking me passionately or letting me embrace them however I wanted.

All in all... everything about building this city back up was amazing - and that had little to do with the fact that most of the women here were pregnant with my child, surprisingly enough.

I was just... genuinely amazed and happy with being able to test my abilities to build an ENTIRE city that would be relatively self sustaining, proving that I had some of what it takes to make my own city of lust...
