Chapter 30: Panic

It was midnight by the time they heard anything, which was the sound of a car engine approaching a nearby drive-way then turning off. Getting up from the couch, Vincent looked out to see who it was. He then dashed out of the house, ignoring his coat or even shoes in his efforts to get out there quicker. Bonnie, confused at what was going on, grabbed the outside gear and followed him.

Russel was just stepping out of his car when the two came running up. He looked worn, haggard and more than a little bruised. The second didn’t look much better when he also stepped out. Seeing his Jester and one of the two mates, Russel sighed in discouragement. He had hoped that Lucas would have been there to also greet them…the look on the younger two’s faces said to him that there had been no sign all night.
