Chapter 34: Fool's Gambit

The weeks were long following his acceptance back into the pack. If he wasn’t dealing with the angry stares and nips of the others, Lucas was having to do all the rotten jobs that no one really wanted to do. At times literally, as he was occasionally seen lugging the cafeteria’s trash out to the dumpster. It wasn’t pleasant but it did make him seem harmless for the moment. So, too, was Lucas in a position where he had much to gain but was also incredibly vulnerable to the rest of the pack…and his sire.
