Chapter 43: A Forgotten Truth

The three returned home a few hours after the incident in the hospital; it was still four days before they were expected back, but they couldn’t stand to stay in the same state anymore. Besides, the idea of their home sounded good just then, like a balm to frayed nerves. They weren’t exactly recovered from the experiences of the last few months, but it was enough for them to be able to face what was coming next.

As they pulled into the Park, they noticed how utterly deserted it seemed. The evacuation of the non-combatants had obviously finished. It was a depressing sight, though surprisingly it was Lucas who was taking it the hardest. For him, it was unnatural that a pack’s central home should lack mothers and cubs. It was also obvious to his mates that he was feeling guilty about it; after all, it was his sire who had caused all this.
