Chapter 12

[Nayla's POV]

I looked up at the starlit sky from my bedroom window. The moon was not in sight, and the air was cool and crisp. I took in a lungful of it and let my eyes wander through the darkness for a moment. What a nice break from the glaring computer screen. I have been working in preparation for the pack's business for days now. I would need the cooperation of the other packs, so there's a lot to do. I don't mind actually, but I do get a little tired. I stretched and shifted my focus to the computer screen again. I leaned back to take a look at my progress. I smiled. That felt better. It was one a.m. I slicked saved and closed my eyes for a moment, then stood up and got ready for bed.

When I opened my eyes, it was morning.

There was a knock on the door.

"Alpha Nayla," It was Anne, one of our helpers. I smiled at her.

"What is it, Anne?"
