Wedding Or Funeral Day?

"Is there any dress that interests you, miss?"

Scarlett walked around the boutique, looking at the wedding gowns on the mannequins. Her face didn't look impressed, she even tended to be bored.

It was the tenth boutique Scarlett had visited that day, but those boutiques still couldn't pick Scarlett's interest at all.

"Miss, how about this dress?" The shopkeeper pointed at a dress designed to shape the body's curves. "You have an excellent body, so you must look beautiful in a dress like this."

"The design is boring," Scarlett replied.

The shopkeeper maintained her smile as she switched to another dress filled with pearl beads and a fluffy skirt. "If you don't like dresses that look simple, you can try this dress."

Scarlett shook her head. "Too full of beads. My eyes hurt by seeing it."

The shopkeeper then chose other dress designs for Scarlett, but they were all rejected by her.

"It seems too sacred."

"I don't like that one."

"This dress is too ugly."

The shopkeeper' frowned, she seemed to want to immediately kick Scarlett out of her boutique because she had rejected the designs in her shop many times.

"Do you have a special design that you like? I can help you to find a suitable one."

Scarlett sighed. "You can't even make something interesting in your boutique, so how can you satisfy me?"

The shopkeeper finally lost her temper and almost screamed at Scarlett if only Silvano didn't rush Scarlett out of the boutique.

"Please forgive my sister. She's a little stressed because tomorrow she has to attend her wedding ceremony. That's why her attitude is worsening." Silvano repeatedly apologized before taking Scarlett away.

"Look at her. Although she is the shopkeeper, her behavior toward customers is bad," Scarlett sneered.

Silvano grunted, "Scarlett, your attitude is even worse than hers."

"I'm just trying to find the best dress for my wedding day."

"Seriously? Since earlier you have rejected so many dresses. Even though I don't understand fashion, at least I can see that the dresses look beautiful."

"I don't like the color, Silvano." Scarlett lit her cigarette as they browsed through the other boutiques from the city streets. "White will make the blood stand out."

Silvano growled, "Scarlett! You will attend the wedding ceremony! Not a funeral! After all, who would touch the blood on their wedding day?"

"If you don't like white, why not buy black so your wedding day can turn into a funeral day!"

Scarlett ignored Silvano's ramblings. For her, the wedding ceremony was the same as killing her freedom.

After being married to men, most women were bound to their husbands and must serve them. The women's surnames would be changed to men's as if their old identities weren't important at all.

It was the same with Adriana Lombardi, Scarlett's mother, who had to throw away her old life to marry her father.

In the end, Scarlett saw Adriana forgetting who she was as time passed.

Scarlett didn't want something like that to happen to her. She didn't want to throw away the Lombardi name and erase her identity.

"I have to call someone." Scarlett suddenly stopped walking.

Silvano, "I told you, don't work—"

Scarlett said, "It's not a job but my marriage matter. Wait for me in a moment."

Without waiting for Silvano's reply, Scarlett immediately left her brother and contacted Dante.

"Who is it?" From the other side of the phone, Dante's voice sounded unfriendly, as if the person calling him had annoyed him.

"Darling, you didn't save my number?!" Scarlett exclaimed.

Slowly, Dante's intonation became softer, "Oh, it's you." Dante added, "You left your cell phone in my room, so why would I save your number?"

"Just throw the phone away. I already bought a new one." Scarlett walked further away from Silvano as if she intended to leave her brother. "By the way, I want to discuss something important with you."

"Say it in one minute. I don't have much free time today," Dante replied.

Without wasting much time, Scarlett made her request in a nutshell, "I don't want you to change my name."

"What do you mean?" he laughed. "What should I change your name to? Scarlet? Scarjo? Or—"

"No! I didn't mean my first name, but my last name! I still want to use Lombardi as my last name, not Moretti."

Dante stopped laughing and started to sound serious. "I have prepared the document for changing your name for tomorrow, and you said you don't want to change it. Don't joke around. According to the law in this country, women have to change their names—"

Again, Scarlett interrupted Dante, "Fuck the law! Your record of breaking the law alone is enough to make Santa Claus reluctant to give you Christmas gifts. So, why do you have to bother with state laws regarding changing names?"

Surprisingly, Dante laughed loudly; his voice even made Scarlett's ears hurt. "I'm just kidding! Take it easy. I don't intend to change your name, considering that our family name is very influential in business matters."

If Scarlett removed the Lombardi name and changed it to Moretti, many people in Lombardi Familia would threaten her position as the head of the Lombardi Familia because they would think that Moretti had controlled them.

If that happened, then the rupture between the two parties wouldn't be able to be stopped. So instead of waiting for chaos, they better anticipate it happening.

Even though Scarlett likes chaos, she doesn't want the organization she has maintained for the last three years to be destroyed because of a marriage.

"So, my name is still Scarlett Lombardi after we get married?" she asked.

Dante, "Yeah, you're still Lombardi, and I'm Moretti. Our marriage is just a mere contract, so there's no need to consider it too much. In the end, we can divorce after marriage."

Scarlett smiled. "Our fathers are dumb, right? They punish us if we refuse to marry but don't penalize us if we divorce after marriage."

"Should I make divorce documents from now on?" Dante suggested.

"Ouch, baby, how come you want to divorce me so soon?" Scarlett said, "Wait until I get tired of being fucked by your penis. Then you can make divorce papers."

Dante: "My sweet darling, you seem to doubt my abilities. Even if I fuck you every day, you won't be—"

Scarlett closed the call unilaterally and immediately approached Silvano with a cheerful's face. "Silvano, I think the white wedding dress looks great too."

Because her wedding day tomorrow will no longer be the death day for her freedom.
