Between Two Choices

Everyone immediately froze in their places when they saw many bombs attached to Russo and his men's bodies. Russo's face looked haggard and pale, while his body was thinner than the last time Scarlett had seen him.

Even though Scarlett had just left Hamary two days ago, Russo's changes were very significant, a sign that in two days, the man's life had been badly damaged by Scarlett's actions.

"How could he infiltrate here?" Dante growled and shouted, "Have all the members of the Moretti Familia gone dead?!"

Scarlett took a closer look at the appearance of Russo and his men. She realized that they didn't have the slightest wound on their bodies, so Scarlett could conclude that the Moretti Familia standing guard outside the mansion had let Russo in without fighting.

If Scarlett had thought about it, Russo couldn't have used a smoke bomb to take down the guards. Since he didn't bring a lot of underlings, it was difficult to carry a lot of smoke bombs.

Apparently, the police at Hamary had found Russo's hideout and arrested most of his men.

"Don Dante!"

The members of the Moretti Familia who were outside the hall rushed to the hall's entrance in droves. They all carried various rifles but didn't dare point them at Russo.

"Why are you guys just standing still like that?! Quickly get him out of here!" Dante ordered.

Between the speed of the bullet and the hand, Dante was more confident that his subordinates could shoot Russo in the head before Russo could press the bomb button attached to his body.

However, his underlings still stood where they were and even started to lower their weapons.

"Don … we can't do that."

Before Dante could reply, he heard Russo's laughter echo through the hall. Russo seemed to have lost his mind after his son died and his business in Hamary had been destroyed.

"Dante, do you recognize this voice?" Russo took out his cell phone and pressed the loudspeaker while calling someone.

"Da … Daddy. Can Daddy hear me?"

Dante opened his eyes widely as he heard Illaria's trembling voice. The child seemed to hold back tears and wished she could listen to Dante's voice.

Within seconds, Dante took out his gun, which he had hidden under his suit. However, just before Dante could pull the trigger, his hand was intercepted by Scarlett.

"Stop, don't shoot him," Scarlett warned.

Dante tried to shake off Scarlett's hand and snapped at her, "Let go of your hand!"

"Fool! If you shot him, how did you know where your daughter was hostage!" Scarlett snapped back at him.

Even though Scarlett had just found out that Dante had a daughter, which he had been keeping a secret, Scarlett had no time to be shocked and immediately focused on Russo's acts.

"Scarlett Lombardi! I didn't expect that the woman that bastard will marry is you!" Russo walked to the altar. "What a coincidence that I also wanted to kill you after you ruined my business!"

Scarlett laughed mockingly. "Did I hear right? How can you blame me for the collapse of your business? You should blame yourself for not being able to manage your business so well that the police can trace your whereabouts easily."

"Shut up!" Russo pointed his gun at Scarlett. "If you don't want to die, you better shut up, you bitch!"

Instead of obeying, Scarlett kept talking. "If you detonate the bomb, doesn't that mean you will also die with me?"

"After Dante killed my son and you destroyed my business, do you think I still have a purpose for a living?!"

"I'd rather die with you than see both of you happy over my suffering!"

Russo had utterly lost his mind.

Even though he still had children besides Richard, Russo didn't care about them and was blinded by revenge.

This behavior made Scarlett believe that Russo was angrier when he saw his business destroyed than when he saw his son's death.

Dante ignored Russo's conversations with Scarlett and thought only of Illaria in his head. "Tell me, where is Illaria?"

Russo, "Where's the fun in it if I tell you right away?"

"Stop your game! How dare you spy on me all this time, Russo!"

Dante could guess that Russo had been spying on him since they became partners for years.

However, Dante never allowed Russo to set foot into his mansion, so Russo must have placed his men among Dante's underlings.

Dante cursed himself inwardly for failing to ensure Illaria's safety.

"You have no right to say that after you killed my son!" shouted Russo.

"It wasn't me who killed your son! So, let Ilaria go now!"

"Speak as you please, Dante, but I won't believe in your words anymore. The bullet that shot Richard was Moretti's!"

Dante rubbed his face roughly. His heart was overwhelmed with feelings of uneasiness and anger.

"Hey, Russo." Scarlett came down from the altar and stood before Russo, folding her arms across her chest.

"You're targeting the wrong person. The person who killed your son was me," Scarlett confessed.

Both Russo and Dante were shocked after hearing Scarlett's confession.

At first, Dante thought that Scarlett would remain silent and let Dante bear the guilt she had made. That's why he didn't want to trouble himself to accuse Scarlett to free himself from Russo's grudge.

"Nonsense! You weren't even at my son's wedding!" Russo exclaimed.

Scarlett smiled crookedly. "Are you sure I wasn't there?"

Russo's brow furrowed, and his face dropped low. Scarlett's question shook his heart, but ultimately, he insisted on blaming Dante.

"Don't try to trick me! Moretti's bullets are impossible to replicate! The person who killed Richard must be Dante Moretti!"

Russo then points his gun at Dante. "Dante Moretti! Don't you feel ashamed after your wife tries to take responsibility for a mistake she didn't make?!"

Dante clenched his fists and glared at Scarlett.

Scarlett's plan to frame him seemed so smooth that people wouldn't believe it if Scarlett confessed her own evil deeds.

"Stop babbling, Russo. Quickly tell me what you want to let Illaria go?" he asked.

"Shoot your bride, and then I will tell you where your beloved daughter is."

Dante gritted his teeth. "How dare you give me such an order!"

Russo's laughter echoed through the hall. "You have taken the life of the groom from my future daughter-in-law, so I want you to lose your bride too."

"You have to choose, Dante. Which one do you want to save between your daughter and wife?"
