Storm was nervous, Chase's father could be here on any given day, and that made her all the more sick.
She was nervous to the point that she felt like vomiting, apparently, Kelsey would also be talking to him and at times she would come to rub it in her face with a facade in front of Chase.
Today was the day, everyone knew he had arrived, he had such a huge role and now she was shaking in fear.
She was seated with Meghan and Paige, her friends tried to calm her down but it was not working. Storm even hoped for Chase to say he changed his mind and would cancel.
She started to get ready, Meghan and Paige were reassuring her and told her that everything is fine.
"Are you ready?"
Chase was looking her over,
"Yes, is something wrong with my outfit?"
"No, you look beautiful, back to my question, are you ready?"
"What choice do I have?"
"Don't worry, I'm with you."
He took her hand and kissed it, they went to the restaurant at the back, it was a special reservation and when they walked in Storm felt sick.
Kelsey was talking up a storm and his father listened and they laughed, her stomach dropped, and they were close.
"Father."
"Chase, long time no see."
"Storm this is my father, and father meet my girlfriend."
His father's brow furrowed, "Nice to meet you, sir."
His father turned to Chase, "Sit."
She had not missed that he had dismissed her already, Chase opened a chair for her and thanked him.
"Kelsey has been telling me a lot, it would be a shame to let her go."
Storm was hurt but she would not show it and be strong for Chase but he had not missed it as he placed his hand over her that was on her thigh.
He squeezed it in assurance and looked up to him and he was smiling down at her, "Of course, but tonight I wanted it to be about you getting to know Storm."
She had not missed the rage that had flashed in Kelsey's eyes.
"This will come and go, Chase, you should put more effort in someone who is going to last long and be your lifetime partner."
"You don't have to be that cruel, don't take it out on her."
"I see that she bewitched you."
Chase was ready to hit back but she squeezed his arm, "It's okay."
"No, it's not okay, you won't treat her like this, or else we can leave."
"You forget with whom you speak to boy."
She could see that he was tensed up and the relationship with his father was not one of affection.
His father turned to her, "The only thing I want to know about you, is that do you know why your fur is white?"
"No, not at all."
"How are you fully useless?"
Kelsey laughed, and knew that she was relishing at the way that she was being treated, "Father I was excited for you to get to know her but all you have done is to degrade her, you don't even know anything about her, so why are you treating her this way?"
"I know everything I need to know about her."
"if you do, maybe we should leave then."
"I'm not interested so stop acting up, I'm here to see how you're doing?"
"I'm doing great with Storm in my life."
"What are your plans with Kelsey?"
"I have no plans, I'm going to think about a new route."
"You can have your girlfriend here be on the side, Kelsey would be your wife and bear heirs for you, and little miss here can be your mistress on the side."
"Do you think Kelsey would be fine with that?"
"Yes, I am, anything to help you succeed the throne, as long as you take care of me and be there for me, is all that matters."
"So, is that fine with you?" This time his father asked her.
"No." she let out in a small tone.
"Why, do you want Chase to lose everything?"
"I don't."
"Besides, I'm not asking you, I'm telling you."
"I'm not cheating on her." This time it was Chase, and he had said it so calmly and cold that it made her a bit worried.
"You will learn, I was the same as you, Chase."
"But I'm not you."
"Are you challenging me?"
"I could never, father."
"Exactly, you should know your place."
"You're right."
Chase stood up, and took her hand, "It was nice seeing you, but we have to leave."
He did not look back as he dragged her out with him, she had wanted to tell him that they did not need to leave but the look on his face kept her quiet.
His jaw was working, she had not wanted to create a rift between them, when Chase would have calmed, she would talk to him about it.
They walked through the forest and they sat down, Chase's head rested on her lap as she played with his hair.
His eyes closed, and could tell that he was tense and tired.
