"This skill is so overpowered. Imagine if it can boost my Luck and Charm attributes as well." Humans are greedy by nature and Red's thoughts right now reflect that. "No, increasing my Luck is already enough, Charm won't help me in battle anyway. At most, it would make me appear more handsome while battling my opponents." Chuckling to himself, Red decided to stop pondering over useless stuff.
He turned his attention to reading the last system notification.
Rewards:
- 100 Copper coins
- 500 EXP
- Wolf King's fur
- Wolf King's fangs
- Wolf King Andreus (Mount)
Golden light enveloped Red as he leveled up, his wounds and injuries from battling the Wolf King also healed in an instant.
The Novice period in Overworld is both a learning phase and a protection phase for players.
When defeating monsters, all the loot would automatically appear in the player's backpack. This includes harvestable materials like the one Red received from Andreus.
If one wants to take advantage of this function to steal a kill, they would only be disappointed. The protection that the AI implemented is not that lousy. Instead of giving all the loot to the one who dealt the last blow, the AI would calculate the player's contribution to distribute the loot.
Many despicable people in his last life, fell for this, and in the end, the people they attempted to take advantage of gave them sincere smiles and thanks for selflessly leashing the monster.
The AI set it like this so players would farm monsters honestly. After all, the goal of the AI for babysitting the players is to familiarize them with the realistic playstyle of the game.
There is no such thing as an attack-assist or aim-assist in the game. Every move and action a player does must be executed by himself. This is the price for Overworld's realism.
It's also one of the reasons Overworld attracted global attention. Being able to use their real-life skills in the game world is a fatal attraction to many people.
The military, ancient clans, and martial arts lineage all scrambled to enter the game. Not only was it cheaper to practice their skills in the game but it is also much safer and without the risks of death or injury in their members.
Eventually, professionals like Doctors and Engineers also flock to the game to practice their skills using the game's resources.
Luckily, the game only operates 10 hours a day or 2 game days, or else the consequences of the majority of people spending more time in the game world than the real world would be unimaginable.
"The rewards are not as abundant as the ones I received for being the first player to slay a Rare monster, but at least I manage to obtain what I wanted."
Eyeing the reward: Wolf King Andreus (Mount), Red smiled and also heaved a sigh of relief.
He wasn't sure if he was able to use his memory and knowledge of his past life in this life. After all, he transmigrated, something that he didn't imagine possible, he won't be surprised if this life's events are different from the ones in his past life.
Receding from his thoughts, Red turned his attention to the mount.
[Mount: Wolf King Andreus (Unique)]
[Level: 5]
HP: 500
[Skills:]
[Umbral journey] - Andreus can harness the element of the night, traveling from anything that has a shadow. (Note: Can only be used at night)
[Moon's blessing] - Andreus gains a 300% increase in movement speed at night.
[By your side] - Andreus can reside in his owner's shadow, regenerating 50 health per second.
[Sentient (Unique)] - Andreus is a smart boy
'Unique' existence in Overworld represents immeasurable power. Whether they referred to items, pets mounts, etc. they possessed immense might. Like the Mystical Chest Red obtained from the system, everything that is 'Unique' transcends tier.
And in terms of unique mounts, Overworld only has 5 of them. Every race had 1 each which they could obtain from killing monsters in their designated novice village.
The unique mount of Orcs was a wolf; Humans had a Lion; Elves had a griffin; Dwarves had a bull; Sprites had a unicorn.
Though they are of different species all of them are unique mounts. Like Andreus, they possess the skill [Sentient], with this skill they are no different from ordinary animals that have feelings and thoughts.
They can also leave their owner's side, and won't disappear after a certain distance. They can be used to do a plethora of things with the limitations of combat.
"Still, this would save me a lot of trouble. I can just send Andreus to collect herbs and other materials by himself saving me a lot of time and effort." Red smiled with satisfaction, the number of times he smiled today already exceeded the number of times he smiled in his last life.
Looking at the time, Red decided to go back to the village. He submitted his quest and received a lot of Copper coins and EXP, mainly because all of them are repeatable quests. Submitting all his quest items net him a whopping 2,000 EXP, wrapping his body with golden lights as he leveled up twice. Afterward, he quit the game and returned to reality.
