Chapter 15: Transmigration won't upgrade you to a Sword God

Freya left the village after accepting all the quests she could. As she jogged to the entrance of the village, the image of that player surfaced in her mind.

Shaking her head, she equipped the wooden club given by the system. In Freya's opinion, the AI's judgment is apt by grading this weapon as (Trash). It didn't provide the wielder with any physical damage, instead, it was purely used as a channel for strength.

That means if Freya had 5 attribute points in Strength, the club would also deal 5 damage. If she had 10, it would deal with that exact amount.

The only real advantage of this block of wood was that it provides a longer reach, also, fighting bare-handed without the corresponding class would make the player suffer a 20% damage debuff.

Freya slowed down her pace and came to a halt in front of a tree. Resting one of her hands on it, she peered at the creature meters away from her position.

She watched as the black-furred canine rubbed his backside against a tree. Its eyes were alternating between opening and close while its tongue was sticking out dripping saliva on the dead leaves under it.

This is a good opportunity. I will sneak up on it and...

Freya was still formulating ideas in her mind but her body was already moving closer to the wolf. When she was approximately 2 meters away from the target she took a deep breath and crouched down. Waiting for the wolf to rub upwards, she sprang to her feet.

Swoosh!

Bang!

Success! Smiling to herself, Freya was just about to deliver a follow-up blow when the wolf managed to recover faster than she anticipated.

Being rudely interrupted made the wolf tuck its tail. It turned around to face its ambusher and bared its teeth. Lowering its stance, the wolf pounced on Freya's and used [Swipe] without hesitation.

Seeing its claws get closer to the Orc, the wolf's face flashed an imperceptible smirk like a human's.

Unlike Red, Freya didn't have a hide wrap around her arms nor was she on the same level as the wolf. Nonetheless, without a change in her expression, she used the club like a sword to deflect her attacker's claws.

This was the difference between descendants of influential families and common folks. From a young age, the former was trained in combat and conditioned to face dangerous situations with a calm and rational mind. Plus, they enjoy many benefits and resources that the average person may not obtain even if he works himself his entire life.

The latter, however, can only study general knowledge in hopes of getting a job. They don't have the backing of many resources. Combat training, social skills, etc. for them were only extra-curricular activities if not a waste of time. They would rather spend the time that they would have to spend working out to earn money to pay for their needs.

That's exactly how Red lived his past life. Even after transmigrating, it can be said that he had an unfair advantage over other players because of the knowledge that he had of the game. But at the end of the day, that knowledge was only theoretical and can't be converted into his actual strength. Right now, he only has a clear idea of how he should progress but that doesn't mean that he would be able to reach that level instantaneously.

The force that resulted from their clash forced them to retreat. The wolf took one step back, while Freya barely moved from her position.

Its relaxation being interrupted and the fact that its opponent managed to deflect the attack made the beast's ears flat and it bared its fangs even more.

Seeing the opponent's reaction, Freya didn't have the intention to stop and instead used her free hand to gesture provocatively.

The wolf pounced again, but instead of meeting it head-on, she chose to dodge to the side and deliver a hit on the back of the airborne beast.

She used two more attacks before the wolf released an anguished howl and dissipated into tiny fragments of light.
