I jog downstairs, collect my phone from the now empty front room. I hear talking from the kitchen. I can hear Ross' voice, he sounds happy, he's joking around with Ryan about something. I consider bolting for the front door. I don't want to see his face, I know exactly how he will look at me. And I know how his expression will make me melt. His blue eyes and soft features with the kind smile that will play on his lips. I briefly consider whether it's possible to like two people at the same time.
Having hoovered for long enough in Matty's hall I decide I need to help everyone tidy up and I walk into the kitchen. Rachel glares up at me instantly. Eyeing my clothes change.
"Whose clothes are you wearing?" She asks instantly. She is not half as fun sober and hung over.
"I'm borrowing. Matty said it was okay" I say quietly eyes down. If I look at her I might just tell her everything me and Matty just did together. Did she have to draw soo much attention to this? My head is beginning to bang and I have zero tolerance for her right now.
"you're in Kim's clothes?" She stutters shock clouding her expression.
"I guess so" I murmur, I'm guessing Kim is Matty's sister, I don't even know her name.
I eye Rachel's clothes. I notice she is still in yesterdays clothes her hair messily bundled on top of her head. She managed to get off her eye makeup but her eyes are dark underneath. She looks at the jeans on me and scowls. It's definitely in my interest to not say anything more about this subject so I look away from her resolutely.
There is one seat left next to Ross, so I take it. He smiles in my direction, somehow more shy now that he is presumably sober. He's still shirtless. I hand him his shirt back and he stuff it in his rucksack.
"Thanks" I smile openly at him. Yet another person I need to look away from, I don't want him to kiss me. Well I mean I do, so much. However nothing good will come from me leading him on further.
"Thanks for the food" I say " I'll help you tidy up" I explain. Rachel scoffs whilst eating her toast.
"My head is banging" she explains.
"Don't think I can face cleaning" says Pippa
Rhea smiles at me, looks like her and Malachi had a nice night, I plan on quizzing her on it later.
After chugging some water and eating half a piece of toast I help tidy alongside the guys and Rhea. Pippa and Rachel sit in the kitchen smoking. It doesn't take long, Ross hovers around me. I don't trust myself to look at him as I might just encourage him. I want to talk to him but not right now, I need some time to process everything. .
After we finish cleaning Brad and Stiffy (unsure why everybody calls him that) leave.
They both hug me, Brad holds on just a fraction too long which earns a scowl from Matty.
"See you at uni if not before" Stiffy says. And I briefly wonder how his hair is still perfectly straight in his Mohawk.
Rach and Pippa ask if I wanna go with them, I think in an attempt to actually be nice for once. Or more likely to grill me on the events of last night that they missed. Rach is still shocked that I'm wearing Matty's sisters clothes perhaps even whilst dating Matty she was not given this treatment.
"See you all later at the park" Ryan says following them out.
Later I think in my head!? I need a full on day and nights sleep to recover.
Rhea and Malachi leave together shortly after, I get the feeling they want some time alone. "Text you later" she tells me quietly. I smile at her. I want to go with her and talk to her about all of this mess. But I also want her to be happy with Malachi. And not be dragged down by me and my dramas.
That leaves Ross, Matty and myself. Very awkward. I go to grab my bag and slip on my converse.
"Tay" Ross starts "I can walk you to the tram stop, I'm heading that way"
"I was going to offer her a ride." Matty says trying to upstage him.
"I can just walk" I say needing to be out of there, now.
"It's all good I didn't drink much last night, I'll drive you back" Matty decides for everyone.
Forthright he puts on his leather jacket. I've not seen him in it before and I'm floored. He looks at me as if to say don't argue, and pulls his hands through his hair.
Ross embraces me, "here's my number" he hands me a piece of paper. I note he had it all written out. He hesitates watching my eyes.
"Thanks" I smile reassuringly. Look at me collecting guys numbers.
He hugs me tightly. I can't help but feel bad for him leaving alone. I hug him back and he pulls away for a second I think he's going to kiss my lips but he just kisses my cheek and smiles. I hold onto him, I don't want him to go.
"I'll see you soon" he whispers into my ear briefly kissing me there and my tummy flips.
He pulls his hoody on and leaves. I wonder just when I will see him again? And what may have changed in that time.
"cigarette before I drop you off?" Matty asks and I nod following him into his kitchen.
