Nice to meet you babe
After he clears his whole plate in silence I figure that's a good sign.
"Man that was good" he says finally looking up at me. I knew he loved food and I was sure that cooking for him would be a big deal.
He smiles, "Thank you, so did your mum teach you how to cook that good or?" He asks.
"Yeah she did, she's always cooked from scratch and I always helped" I tell him.
"It was amazing, is there anything you're not just naturally skilled at?" He asks me
"I can't draw" I laugh
"Well I've got the drawing for both of us" he says
I get up and start to clear the table.
"Hey let me, you cooked" he says.
"No honestly this is your night to just chill babe" I tell him and kiss him lightly.
I continue clearing up as he rolls some cigarettes for us.
After I clear up I get out the ice cream. Let it defrost a little.
I go back over to him. He hands me a cigarette and lights it up for me and then he smokes his own one.
"I put together the chest of drawers, and I changed the sheets" he says a huge smile on his face.
"I can't wait to see" I tell him, he's so sweet like this.
"I'm glad we're doing this babe" he says to me.
"Me too, it feels right" I tell him and he smiles.
"I'm gonna let my mum know next time I see her" I tell him
"Oh yeah that's what I was meant to say mum and Steve wanna see us again, think about when's good and I'll let them know".
"Friday night ?" I suggest.
Matty goes over and puts some ice cream in a bowl for me and we head into the living room with the fire on. I lay down with him and can't help but notice his hand over my waist again. I lean into him.
His phone starts beeping on the side. It's Jay.
"Fucks sake" he says.
He grabs the phone. I hear Jay on the other side of the line.
"Not great timing" he says candidly.
I hear Jay protesting on the other side.
"Okay but can you like just come and collect and go dude I'm busy" he says eyeing me in his shirt.
"Yeah man see you in 10" he says and hangs up.
"Babe Jay is just picking up something to smoke, I will literally get him in and out in no time so as not to intrude on our evening. He was insistent and he's been good to me before so I said it was okay." Matty tells me.
"Cool you don't have to explain to me Matty" I tell him. It is fine right? Jay is his friend. Wouldn't it just be the same if Rhea was to come over?
Speaking of her I check my phone Rhea has texted back a time for tomorrow. I remind myself to tell Matty later.
I've never met Jay before. Just as I begin wondering what he may look like he knocks on the door. Matty goes to get it. I remain on the sofa waiting for him to come and lay back down with me.
They go off into the kitchen to get the stuff I'm guessing. I hear Matty trying to get him out of the front door, but Jay spies me from the hall and says
"Hi there" eyes locking onto me.
I move to sit up slightly, realising that's not any better and in fact shows off my stockings more.
"Hi" I say shyly. He's got an intense stare. He's blonde, and tall. Wearing a leather jacket. He's an attractive guy there's no doubt about it, but he's cold looking and intense somehow. Not like Matty who is classically good looking and now familiar to me in every way possible.
He takes my hi as permission to come into the room.
"You never told me you had a girl, Matty" he says
"Yeah and we're busy" Matty says to him
"Ah she don't mind" Jay remarks smiling at me.
Is he a predator? Or just nuts.
"Is this Taylor?" He asks Matty
"You know I can speak right" I tell him laughing.
"You can literally ask me my name and I'll tell you" I say and Matty smiles behind him.
"Taylor I'm guessing" he extends his hand to me taken aback by my directness
I shake it so as not to back down now after my little speech. I reposition myself and pull the shirt down further.
"You two sit and chill, Matty you haven't seen your friends in a while it's all good" I tell him smiling
"Jay is it? what are you drinking?" I ask him.
He looks abashed as I stand up in Matty's shirt hold ups and all.
"Brandy please, Taylor" he says.
And as I walk away he says "oh and Tay nice to meet you babe".
