Chapter Two

Owen Finn sat in Mr Robert Howell's swivel seat and looked around the room. There wasn't much to look at. A few paintings hung on the wall next to an out of date calendar and an almost dead plant sat next to the door at the end of a grey sofa couch.

The door from Robert's office was made of glass but the blinds were closed. Owen wanted to see what was going on out side so he got up and opened them. He opened them and saw someone who looked very familiar. Though he was not certain if he knew the old man he saw through the window, he had to find out.

Owen quietly left the room and got as close as possible to the old man and his ,what seemed to be, body guards with out looking life a threat.

"Mr Walsh, I believe the conference room is this way, we should move along. We don't want to be late.

Owen quickly took a gamble and stood in front of the old man.

"Excuse me sir, but I have a question to ask"

One of the body guards shoved Owen from their path.

"Move out of the way child. How dare you block our way. Do you have any idea who this man is?"

The man towered over Owen but he only glared at him.

"Excuse me, but I don't believe I was talking to you."

Even though he spoke politely, he was very annoyed and did not try to hide it. Owen was playing a very dangerous game, this man's family was very powerful in the underworld.

"Who do you think you are to talk to me like that? You brat I'll beat you to a pulp!"

The man grabbed and picked up Owen by the collar of his shirt.

Mr Walsh grabbed the man's wrist. "Mr Helgar, it would be wise for you to relieve your threat"

Eventhough Mr Walsh was old and small he seemed to frighten the younger, tall man named Mr Helgar.

"But sir this child- "

MrWalsh squeezed Mr Helgar's wrist in anger.

"I don't think your parents would be happy to know you disrespected me"

Mr Lee Helgar was assigned to protect Mr Walsh because his family was known to be very powerful in combat but if he was to disrespect Mr Walsh in anyway his family would loose their high social status.

He had to be careful.

"No sir... I apologise.."

He puts Owen down and Mr Walsh lets go of his wrist.

"Now go on ahead to the meeting. I request an audience with this young man in private."

Mr Helgar and the other man, Mr Walsh's lawyer, leave to the conference room.

"I apologise young man, the Helgar family rarely use their heads. Now what can I help you with?"

Owen fixed his shirt "All I wanted to know is if your family name really is Walsh"

"Of course it is my boy and to answer your next question, yes. I do remember you. You look just like your father at that age. But it was years ago that we last saw one another. How ,may I ask, did you ever recognise me?"

"I don't know, it was just a gut feeling, sir"

"My boy, please, call me uncle again. It would do me the greatest honour since serving under your father"

Mr Paul Walsh, grandfather to all the underworld, held a lowly orphan boy's hand.

Even though Mr Walsh was one of the most powerful men in this country he was nothing compared to Owen's father. In fact he worked for him before he passed away fourteen years ago.
